• Generally the enumerator spelled the name the way it sounds. i.e. He wrote "Hoks"; the name is "Hawkes". I used the correct spelling from my own database in most cases but always check the original where you have doubts.


• Age = Less then one year is expressed by fraction of 12 i.e. 4/12 is 4 months old. 0/12 is less then one month.


• Occasionally the enumerator used "Dom" in Relationship to Head. It means Domestic but may be misleading according to our understanding of the word. The person may have been a visitor, or boarder.


• House Type: W 2/2 = Wooden, 2 storey, 2 rooms


• Where House Type is absent but has family #, means 2 families in same dwelling
