Jan 1, 1958 -- to Jan 11, 1958 -- No entry. Sun Jan 12, 1958 -- Cold. We were to have a Roll Call service at the church so I went prepared but Mr Barker decided to wait till Jan 19. I went with Mr Knox, our new customs officer to McAdam after his day's work. Helen, Frankie, Amos & Annie met he there at Lloyd's later.

Mon Jan 13, 1958 -- Helen washed in a.m. She & I to town in afternoon, over to Annie's in evening.

Tue Jan 14, 1958 -- Ironed for Helen in a.m. Over to Annie's in afternoon and stayed for supper. Lovely weather but icy in door yards.

Wed Jan 15, 1958 -- A real snowstorm and wind with it. Wrote 2 letters in a.m., patched a bit, etc. TV in evening. Liberal convention at Ottawa.

Thu Jan 16, 1958 -- Busy day getting ready for Carol's birthday party. Helen cooked. I washed dishes. 8 or 9 girls got off school bus at night, stayed for supper and boys came in evening. A big event. Made molasses cake & ?? for supper.

Sun Feb 2, 1958 -- It was storming quite hard so I didn't think they would bring me home but they did. Bertha had a wonderful dinner ready. Norman & Irva down too, so quite a day. They went back about 4:30.

Mon Feb 3, 1958 -- No entry.

Tue Feb 4, 1958 -- No entry.

Wed Feb 5, 1958 -- Busy getting ready for WMS meeting in evening. Lala & Basil came, also Irva, Mamie and Lizzie. Lydia came for supper with us and the meeting.

Thu Feb 6, 1958 -- Crocheting on doily.

Fri Feb 7, 1958 -- No entry. Sat Feb 8, 1958 -- I finished doily, took me most of forenoon. A miserable day with strong wind and rain and sleet. Bertha, Lizzie & I & Fred & Dolly out to Mary Clark's funeral in afternoon. Out to Buckingham's to shower for Ruth Greer & husband.

Sun Feb 9, 1958 -- Our SS at 1 p.m., church service at 2. A Mr & Mrs Mattheson from NBBI. I had charge of the service, she played the organ. Very good.

Mon Feb 10, 1958 -- No entry.

Tue Feb 11, 1958 -- Lizzie and I down to prayer meeting with Mr Parker and Eileen in evening. Very cold.

Wed Feb 12, 1958 -- Crocheting. Thu Feb 13, 1958 -- Busy crocheting doily in spare time.

Fri Feb 14, 1958 -- Cold day. Snowing and blowing. Blaine over to school to Valentine's party in afternoon. Finished doily. Decided it was too big and too pretty for a shower gift so kept it myself and sent to Canterbury with Laurel for something.

Sat Feb 15, 1958 -- Busy day as usual. Out to Edith Wood's in evening to shower for Nellis Farrell and girl friend. Big crowd and good time. Lots of lunch.

Sun Feb 16, 1958 -- Our SS at 1 p.m. and church service at 2. A Mr Matthews had service at Corner in evening and showed slides. But we didn't go.

Mon Feb 17, 1958 -- Bertha washed in a.m. In the afternoon, Norman went to Canterbury to have work done on the car, so I went up to Addie's with him. Had a nice visit and finished pair men's mittens.

Tue Feb 18, 1958 -- Lizzie & I down to prayer meeting in evening with Mr Parker and Eileen. Sent 3 pair mittens over to Donovan's with mail. Only got $1.25 a pair, so not enough.

Wed Feb 19, 1958 -- No entry.

Thu Feb 20, 1958 -- Very cold. Annie Graham, Nina Wood and Mrs Harvey came to spend the day so we had a good time. After they went, I made 2 stars for quilt then went up with Norman when he came from work. Stayed to supper and the evening.

Fri Feb 21, 1958 -- Made patchwork etc. Bertha, Lizzie, Irva & I out to Corner church in evening to World Day of Prayer meeting. Special singing and a very nice meeting. Bertha washed in a.m.

Sat Feb 22, 1958 -- Not too much work to do, so watched afternoon show on TV. Jackie & Stanley down in evening and we all went out to Bob Farrell's for shivaree for Nellis and wife. A big crowd.

Sun Feb 23, 1958 -- Carl took Denny & me down to church and SS. Bertha stayed home to get ready for her trip to F'ton and had dinner ready when we got home. Mr Parker came with us for dinner. Out to Laurel's in evening with Norman & Irva. Bertha away.

Mon Feb 24, 1958 -- Built fire at 6 a.m. Carl did not hear alarm clock. Lovely day. I washed the 10 years cotton for my quilt and some other things in a.m. Ironed 5 yards in afternoon and made last 3 stars for quilt. Carl & Denny away somewhere in evening.

Tue Feb 25, 1958 -- Wind blowing hard when I woke up. Carl got his own breakfast, they went to work but it stormed so hard later they came home before eleven. Carl down town in afternoon. I sewed stars on two blocks. Watched Matinee, Island in the Sky. Good. No prayer meeting, minister away.

Wed Feb 26, 1958 -- Clear, sunny day, not too cold. Busy a.m. sewed patchwork in afternoon and watched Matinee, Another Man's Poison. Carl took me and Mrs Harvey down to call on Flossie Cropley, she was down to Jean's so we made our call there.

Thu Feb 27, 1958 -- Foggy in early a.m. but cleared away later. I made doughnuts in the morning, mending some in the afternoon. Mrs Harvey and Phyllis down in evening. Carl over to Ray's. Gertie & Dick brought Bertha & Blaine home around 11 p.m.

Fri Feb 28, 1958 -- A strong wind blowing but did not storm till night. Norman away to St. Croix. Carl going to Danforth so Fred & Dolly and I went with him. Dolly & I called on Ernest & Vanch, then we all went to see Lester and Leah and stayed for dinner, so had a nice visit. Home around 9. Started to crochet TV cover.

Sat Mar 1, 1958 -- Snow-storm and high wind but plow kept roads open. Not much work to do. This was Blaine's birthday so Bertha made a fancy cake and ice cream. I cooked bread and beans. Had some popcorn in evening.

Sun Mar 2, 1958 -- Cloudy and light snow falling most of the day. Down to SS in a.m. No church service today as Mr Parker sick at Alton Wood's. Carl & Bertha out to Wood's for supper. Brought Addie back with them for a visit. She is sleeping in spare room.

Mon Mar 3, 1958 -- Cloudy and warm. Carl away to Woodstock in early a.m. Bertha washed. Addie and I just visited. I crocheted on TV cover, watched TV etc.

Tue Mar 4, 1958 -- Cloudy and warm. Carl went fishing with the gang. Bertha and Blaine went out to her mother's with them. Addie and I just visiting. We were up to Norman's for supper. Norm brought us home about 8:30 Sent Eldon birthday car.

Wed Mar 5, 1958 -- Addie busy with dates from scrapbook. Bertha & I crocheting. Up to Mrs Harvey's to WMS meeting in evening. Also stork shower for Phyllis, she got quite a few nice gifts.

Thu Mar 6, 1958 -- Addie & I got up early and went to town with Laurel. Called at Guy Cropley's, Melzie's and Jennie's in a.m. Dinner with Lydia, more calls in afternoon and supper with Mrs Folster. Carl & Bertha down in evening to bring us home.

Fri Mar 7, 1958 -- Cloudy. Storming some. Addie & I thought of going up to Fred's for dinner but didn't get out anywhere through the day. Addie stayed with the boys while Carl, Bertha, Fred & Dolly went to Liberal lecture at Canterbury in evening, Dave Dickson, Harry Corey, etc.

Sat Mar 8, 1958 -- Rather nasty day, soft snow falling at times. Away to Woodstock for the day. Addie & I went up home with us. I had dinner with Harry & Nettie. Brought 2 new kitchen chairs home from Donovan's.

Sun Mar 9, 1958 -- Cloudy & mild, snow going down these days. Down to SS in a.m. Around 3 p.m. Carl, Bertha and boys went to Mountain but I stayed quietly at home. Read some, played organ for 1 hour, etc. Down to church in evening. Dick and Gertie down in late evening.

Mon Mar 10, 1958 -- Cloudy. And wet but Bertha got washing done. Busy crocheting. Lloyd Leeman and family down in evening.

Tue Mar 11, 1958 -- Bertha & I & Blaine up to Fred's awhile in afternoon. Fred has been quite sick but was sitting up when we were there. News of the burning of Frank Boone's barn. No chance to prayer meeting.

Wed Mar 12, 1958 -- Cloudy and soft. Crocheted very busily, finally I found out I had made a mistake and had to take back 3 or 4 whole rows. Carl & Bertha up to Harvey's awhile in evening. Got ironing done.

Thu Mar 13, 1958 -- Cloudy & mild. Bertha busy cooking in a.m. and I washed dishes and separator scrubbed etc. Expected Mr Parker and his mother for dinner but they didn't come. Janice came & spent the day. Carl took her over to Annie's late in evening. Donna & Madeline down. Carl to Danforth with load of Ash in a.m.

Fri Mar 14, 1958 -- Carl came home from work at noon, decided to go to F'ton soon as we could get ready. Carl, Bertha, the boys, Fred & Dolly & I reached F'ton at supper time. I stayed at Clare's all night. Went to Liberal meeting in High school in evening to hear Lester Pearson and others. Pig thrown in.

Sat Mar 15, 1958 -- Storming but Carl, Bertha, Blaine, Velma & Sheryl started for St. John. I went as far as Oromocto and visited Hazel & Jack. Stormed hard all day and night. Watched TV and had a good visit.

Sun Mar 16, 1958 -- Still storming. Jack did a lot of shoveling path to church, etc. We went to church but they came for me. We had dinner at Velma's and supper with Phyllis & Bob at Canterbury and followed the snow plow home. Big drifts everywhere.

Mon Mar 17, 1958 -- Big snow drift under clothes line so Bertha didn't wash, but clear and sunny. I crocheted most of the day.

Tue Mar 18, 1958 -- Bertha washed in a.m. I crocheted in spare time. In afternoon, Lizzie & I went to town with mail, supper with Jennie & Ellis. To prayer meeting in evening. Mr Parker brought us home.

Wed Mar 19, 1958 -- Bertha ironed. I churned in a.m. Crocheted in afternoon. A lovely sunny day.

Thu Mar 20, 1958 -- Clear and sunny but a bit colder. Crocheting. Madeline and Donna down in evening.

Fri Mar 21, 1958 -- Cloudy and stormed a little all day but really storming at night. Carl & Norman came home early in a.m. but went back in afternoon. I finished the crocheted TV cover for Helen.

Sat Mar 22, 1958 -- More snow. Norman & Carl decided not to go to cut wood. So Norman's family went to Houlton in afternoon and I went too. A nasty day in town and so sloppy and slushy, but had a good trip.

Sun Mar 23, 1958 -- A few sunny intervals. Down to church and SS in a.m. Bertha & Carl out to Wood's in afternoon. I was here alone till an invitation from Brian to come up for supper and Norman came for me. Had Brian's birthday cake and ice cream. TV in evening.

Mon Mar 24, 1958 -- Lovely day.

Tue Mar 25, 1958 -- 4 new lambs in early a.m. and 2 more later in morning.

Wed Mar 26, 1958 -- Helen & Linda's birthday.

Thu Mar 27, 1958 -- Bertha, Blaine & I out for some slides back of barn on the crust. She washed later.

Fri Mar 28, 1958 -- Lovely day but colder. Bertha ironed in a.m. She, Carl & Blaine went to Canterbury in afternoon. I went up to call at Lloyd's awhile. Irva in a few minutes after school. Stanley & Jackie down in evening. The four of them played Parcheesi. I watched TV and sewed a star.

Sat Mar 29, 1958 -- Busy day. Sort of thinking Annie & Amos would be up but got a letter in the mail and she didn't mention coming. I made oatmeal bread. Bertha cooked cakes, pies, cookies. Scrubbed, washed windows, etc. Lydia & Merrill & Maureen here awhile in evening. Carl got a load of his wood hauled to FC & here.

Sun Mar 30, 1958 -- Lovely sunny day. Carl, Bertha & boys out to slide on crust after breakfast. Down to SS at 11:30, Home to lunch and quiet afternoon. Carl away to Woodstock to take Roscoe B and girlfriend. Lizzie & I went down to church in evening with Mr Parker. Home with Garn, Stanley & Jackie.

Mon Mar 31, 1958 -- Election day. Lizzie and I went down with Carl around 10, voted, called on Mrs Folster and had dinner with Jennie, Ellis and Jean. Over the River, then up to call at Flossie's, then back down to Lydia's to wait for polls to close and home with Carl. Diefenbaker elected big. Paul & Doris up in evening.

Tue Apr 1, 1958 -- Carl down town to split wood all day. Bertha ironed. I sewed 2 stars on blocks. Carl and Bertha out to Wood's in evening.

Wed Apr 2, 1958 -- A horrible wind blowing all day and night. Luella down for the day so had a good time visiting. I got 2 stars sewed on blocks, etc. Wrote Easter cards to Helen & Clare and letter and card to Annie in evening.

Thu Apr 3, 1958 -- Windy again. I went up to Harvey's awhile in afternoon. Lizzie and Phyllis down in evening. Watched TV till 10:30. Carl & Bertha and boys went to take Stanley & Jackie to Canterbury in evening. Carl down town all day splitting wood.

Fri Apr 4, 1958 -- Good Friday. Lovely sunny day but cool. Carl splitting wood out in the woods. Bertha cooked. I churned in a.m. She cleaned Denny's room and I cleaned back of clothes press in afternoon. Jackie & Stanley, Murray & boys here in evening. I went up to Norman's awhile.

Sat Apr 5, 1958 -- A busy day. Annie called in evening.

Sun Apr 6, 1958 -- Easter. Down to SS at 10 a.m. then Norman & Irva & boys went over to Marie's. Carl & Bertha & boys went to Mountain. Lizzie and I went down to church with Mr Parker. Only 9 there for congregation. I went on to Mountain with Mr P. Supper at Laurel's. I played organ for Easter service there in evening.

Mon Apr 7, 1958 -- Easter Monday and a snowstorm. Not much doing.

Tue Apr 8, 1958 -- Carl, Bertha, Blaine & I away to Woodstock. Bought wall paper, paint Keytone and floor linoleum. Rather nasty day after snow storm. I went down to prayer meeting with Mr Parker and he brought me home.

Wed Apr 9, 1958 -- Bertha worked in a.m. Out to Corner church to funeral of Janey Gaskin. Rev Jewett preached. Lovely casket and flowers. Over to WMS meeting at Annie Graham's in evening.

Thu Apr 10, 1958 -- Bertha & Blaine went out to her mother's to help with papering. Ellis came early to begin work on tearing out partition to make arch between front room and hall one awful mess to clean up at night. Jennie came on mail here for supper. Men went to bee to get wood for church in p.m. Lala visited me while they were gone.

Fri Apr 11, 1958 -- Ellis and Carl busy finishing arch. Went home around 3, not feeling too good. Carl had power turned off for changing switch in front room so we cooked doughnuts on stove. I made crumb cake in p.m. then cleaned up dirt in front room while Bertha ironed. Laurene & Eldon down in evening.

Sat Apr 12, 1958 -- A snow storm lasting all day and evening. Busy day cooking and cleaning, getting front room in order in case company should arrive. Norman & Irva & boys down in evening.

Sun Apr 13, 1958 -- Cloudy and quite a depth of snow. Talked to Annie on telephone around 9:30 they intended to come up but didn't on account of storm. Down to SS at 1; church service at 2.

Mon Apr 14, 1958 -- Lovely sunny day. Bertha washed in a.m. Carl washed and kemtoned kitchen and front room ceiling. I moved organ and other things out of front room, etc. (Tired at night).

Tue Apr 15, 1958 -- A lovely spring day. Ironed. Bertha painted windows in front room. I washed woodwork etc. Carl & Bertha got linoleum from front room (37 years old) put down in kitchen. Stan & Jackie here in evening. Lizzie and I down to prayer meeting at Lydia's with Mr Parker.

Wed Apr 16, 1958 -- Another nice day. Carl busy painting (white) down stairs, arch, etc. Bertha & I papering in front room, almost finished that part, have the part that was this hall to do yet. Ray & Arlene and Ronnie over in evening.

Thu Apr 17, 1958 -- Cloudy in early a.m. but cleared away later. Busy day. Carl painting banister, etc. Bertha & I finished papering all the new front room. Churned too. Tired at night. Carl away to Canterbury in evening to get underlay for floor.

Fri Apr 18, 1958 -- Another fine day. Ellis came to lay flooring then helped Carl to lay linoleum in afternoon. Was here for dinner and supper. Bertha washed and ironed. I made cookies in a.m. etc. Lydia, Winnie & baby called in p.m. Some boys in in evening.

Sat Apr 19, 1958 -- Sunny but cooler. Busy day. Moving stove out & furniture back in front room. It looks very lovely with the new paint, new wall paper and new floor. I cooked bread and beans. Bertha cooked cake & pie and date squares. Worked all day. Washed my hair at night.

Sun Apr 20, 1958 -- Fine a.m. cloudy and some April showers towards night. down to SS at 1 p.m. and church at 2. Carl & Bertha went out to Wood's for supper. I read some, watched TV etc. Irva & boys here awhile after supper while Norm visited at Harold's.

Mon Apr 21, 1958 -- Sheep died in a.m., left 2 little lambs 2 or 3 weeks old. Sort of upset the morning. Bertha put out washing in afternoon and I cleaned cupboard in dining room. They went to town after supper but I stayed home & watched TV etc.

Tue Apr 22, 1958 -- A rainy day. Carl, Bertha, Blaine & I away to Woodstock by way of Houlton. Got 2 pair curtains for kitchen and a new hat for myself, etc. Rained hard most of afternoon and sure pouring tonight. No prayer meeting as Mr Parker in hospital for mastoid operation.

Wed Apr 23, 1958 -- A rainy day. Carl & Bertha went to work down at the Clark house. Blaine stayed with me. I cooked bread, ironed some, cooked cookies, swept, scrubbed, washed dishes and separator, etc.

Thu Apr 24, 1958 -- Foggy in a.m. but no rain. Carl & Bertha down to work at Clark house. Quite a bit of sunshine in afternoon but rain again tonight. I cleaned the desk, put up curtains, etc. Made a beef soup for supper. TV in evening.

Fri Apr 25, 1958 -- Cool and windy. Carl & Bertha down to work at house. I cooked doughnuts, put shelf paper on the top shelves in kitchen, Etc. Bertha & I watching TV in evening when Irva called to say Harold Boone was believed drowned in Logan. Roscoe & Billy in canoe with him, they got to shore.

Sat Apr 26, 1958 -- Rather cool. Couldn't seem to get ahead with the work after the drowning accident of the night before. Mounties and men found Harold around 10 a.m. Frank, Leslie & Derryl here for dinner. Bertha & I up to Irva's awhile after dinner. Ambulance, Coroner, etc., there. Talked to Helen in evening.

Sun Apr 27, 1958 -- Clear and cool. Down to SS 11:30. They went to take Bobby McGinn back to Wood's to go back to F'ton with Lester and Edith so I went too. Early supper there. On out to Audrey Carr's to practice hymns for funeral, home at 7. Lizzie and Edith here awhile in evening.

Mon Apr 28, 1958 -- Cloudy and rainy in afternoon. Out to Corner church to Harold Boone's funeral in afternoon. I played organ, choir sang 3 hymns: Does Jesus Care; Something we'll understand; and Beyond the Sunset. Talked with Mr Blakley a few minutes (lovely flowers). Bertha washed. Time changed at midnight.

Tue Apr 29, 1958 -- Rainy day. Carl & Bertha and Blaine went to town for the day. I cleaned my closet etc. in afternoon. Big job. No prayer meeting as Mr Parker out of the hospital and up to Bristol. Meter man called ($4.19)

Wed Apr 30, 1958 -- Cloudy at first but sun came out later. Carl went to town with Ray. Bertha & I churned and got morning work done, then I went down with her to Lala's. Visited there till 3, then Lala went with me to town. We called on Mrs Knox, then over to Bertha's. I came up with Norman and had supper there.

Thu May 1, 1958 -- Clear and cool. Bertha went down to work at Clark house. Carl helping Merrill to saw wood in a.m. I kept Blaine here. Made bread and jam-jams in a.m. Cleaned some in my bedroom in afternoon. Carl took Denny fishing for smelts in evening.

Fri May 2, 1958 -- Windy and cold. I went down with Bertha and washed all the dishes on cupboard and buffet and she leaned rooms upstairs. I went to call on Mrs Folster late afternoon but she wasn't home, so called at Lydia's. Supper down there, then came home.

Sat May 3, 1958 -- Very cool in early a.m. Ice in the water barrel. Bertha & Carl & boys went to work down town. I cooked bread, beans and doughnuts and swept and scrubbed, etc. Carl & Bertha went to Houlton in evening with Ray and Arlene. Had letters from girls.

Sun May 4, 1958 -- Cloudy and cool. Heard on radio Dedication service at Nashwaaksis church in a.m. Down to SS 11:30. Out to Laurel's with Carl & Bertha who went on to call at Frank's. Home with Norman's and on up with them to supper. Down to church in evening.

Mon May 5, 1958 -- Very cool. More ice in water barrel. Bertha put out a big washing in a.m. and ironed quite a bit of it in afternoon, with my iron she that she was using caught fire so we had to borrow Irva's to finish. Edith Wood here in afternoon. Lizzie and Phyllis down in evening.

Tue May 6, 1958 -- A lovely sunny day. Finished ironing in a.m. Bertha busy packing to move. I murescoed ceiling in pantry and washed some of the woodwork and in my bedroom too. Down to prayer meeting in evening with Mr Parker.

Wed May 7, 1958 -- A rainy day. Lloyd moved stuff for Carl and Bertha took the car full so it was very quiet around here. I cleaned in pantry. Denny here for dinner with me. I went down with Carl for supper and to WMS at Lala's in evening.

Thu May 8, 1958 -- Another rainy day. Busy cleaning in pantry most of day. Laurel brought the new bookcase. Carl & Bertha's "Mother's Day" gift. They came that night to see it and place in position. I placed books in it, sewed up broken place in rug etc.

Fri May 9, 1958 -- Showers. Carl came up in a.m., had a hard time to find cow up in back of Guy's. He went to work at peeling his pulp down by woods, ate his lunch here. I scrubbed and washed porch and dining room floors, dry mopped front room, etc. Thunder shower and Norman came down for me, but came home later.

Sat May 10, 1958 -- Cold and wet after heavy rain. Very busy day. Cooked oatmeal cookies, date squares, and bread. Girls arrived around 5, some surprised to see them. Got supper over, down to Carl's and up to Norman's in evening. Didn't get to bed very early.

Sun May 11, 1958 -- Mothers Day. Bacon and eggs for breakfast. Annie & I down to church. Vivian there so I didn't have to play. Helen kept children and cooked and cooked dinner. Carl and Bertha and boys came for dinner too so there were 12 of us. Out to Laurel's awhile in afternoon. Girls went home at 5. Ray & Arlene called in evening.

Mon May 12, 1958 -- Cloudy and looked like rain so decided not to wash. Finished letter to Gran and wrote one to Muriel in a.m. Up to Harvey's to see about getting woolens to send for blanket for parsonage in afternoon. Over to home and school and fashion show in evening. Good.

Tue May 13, 1958 -- Cloudy in a.m. but didn't rain. I hung out a big washing, 2 blankets, the big table cloth and a sheet, 2 dresses and a lot of other things. Lizzie & Edith called in a.m. I got woolens ready to send out to Edith's for blanket. Tired at night.

Wed May 14, 1958 -- Got ironing done in a.m. Made beds and dry mopped all upstairs in afternoon, etc. Down to prayer meeting in the evening with Mr Parker. Bertha brought us home.

Thu May 15, 1958 -- I went out to the Mountain with Mr Parker before 5, had supper at Laurel's. Went to church in evening. Found Addie there on her way down to make me a little visit. We got a chance home with Basil and Mamie.

Fri May 16, 1958 -- Addie slept late so we didn't go anywhere in a.m. After dinner we went to town with Carl, called at cemetery and a few other places and supper at Carl's. Came up with Ray and visited there awhile, then Ray brought us home.

Sat May 17, 1958 -- I made mince pies and molasses cookies and we called on Epi in fore noon. Then after dinner we called on Fred (others were away), at Harvey's and supper at Norman's. Home around 10 but not to bed until much later.

Sun May 18, 1958 -- Marguerite took us down to SS. I had dinner at Norman's with the crowd, 14 of us altogether. The ladies brought me home late afternoon to see our new room. Down to church in evening. Fiddleheads and chicken for dinner. Aunt Addie went home with Minister in a.m.

Mon May 19, 1958 -- Down with Carl in early a.m. Phyllis came over to Jean's to give permanents so I got mine. Mildred, Irva and Lydia there too, so quite a day. I called at parsonage. Mr Parker's mother and sister there, Came up with Norman, had supper there, then Irva & I called at Harvey's.

Tue May 20, 1958 -- Carl's birthday. A lovely day and warm. I painted the little strip that was needed on the stairs and 3 door steps with the brown, then found a bit of gray and painted pantry floor, 3 door steps and chair. Planted a row of dahlias inside fence in afternoon. Down to prayer meeting in evening.

Wed May 21, 1958 -- Foggy in a.m. but didn't rain except for a few small showers in p.m. Some thunder. I planted row of dahlias in front of porch in a.m., papered over some of dirty spots in dining room and kitchen in afternoon.

Thu May 22, 1958 -- A lovely day. I hung out a good-sized washing in a.m. Planted more dahlias. Went to town with the mail, called at Lydia's and Bertha's and over to see the US officer about going to Calais with him Friday night. Mamie up to spend evening with me. Ironed some.

Fri May 23, 1958 -- Looked like rain when I woke before 5 a.m. but I didn't get up till 5:30, built my fire and out to get the dahlias planted, a short row on the south side of house. Busy day getting ready for visit at Baillie. Bertha came up for me in afternoon, went to Calais with Mr Boynton. Called at Durgin's.

Sat May 24, 1958 -- A lovely day and a lazy day. Linda & I drove along the King road to pick yellow violets and I called at Palmers in a.m., read some, etc. Annie over in the evening.

Sun May 25, 1958 -- Lazy forenoon. Over to Annie's for dinner. In late p.m. Annie, Mrs Palmer, Bonita & I drove in to call on Mrs Johnson at L….Hall and on Mrs Amy Moore. Came home and went to evening service at DeWolfe. Mr Stairs good as usual.

Mon May 26, 1958 -- Helen washed. In finished reading a Murder on My Street. Made cushion back for Helen. Over to Annie's for supper. Down to take some eats down to Cook's. I sat in the car. Watched I Love Lucy after coming back to Helen's.

Tue May 27. 1958 -- A lovely day. Annie & I in town in afternoon. I bought dress, shoes, cotton slip, bloomers, purse, etc. Had a good trip. Supper at Annie's and over to see fashion show at Lawrence school. Very good.

Wed May 28, 1958 -- A rainy wet day. Nothing much doing. Helen got her 59 chickens moved from old kitchen down to new building. I was over to Annie's for supper and evening. Mrs Cook's funeral in afternoon; we did not go.

Thu May 29, 1958 -- Another rainy dark day. Annie over in a.m. I fixed two cushions for Helen. Mr Stairs came to call in afternoon. Over to Annie's for supper. Down to show and got can of clams and I made a clam stew. Very delicious.

Fri May 30, 1958 -- Dark in a.m. but cleared away later. Washed dinner dishes at Helen's then went over to Annie's to help with hers. She and Amos planted strawberry plants. Annie & I and kids went with Amos on school bus around Lynfield. Down to neighborhood. Sat May 31, 1958 -- Helen had cooked a lot for food sale in town that a.m. Other stuff was brought to go from there. Rather interesting and they sold everything for $60. Helen, Frankie, Larry, planted garden in p.m. Annie & Amos & I down to Bernice's to get Mrs Palmer. Watched Johnny Belinda.??

Sun Jun 1, 1958 -- Lazy morning again. Up to Mr Stairs service at Baillie at 2 p.m. Later Annie, Mrs Palmer, Helen & I drove up through Brockway to Bun's camp. Rained a pour on our way home. Supper and evening at Annie's. Helen came over.

Mon Jun 2, 1958 -- Helen and Glenn brought me to Calais in early a.m., came with Mr Boynton to Forest City. Rained hard when we arrived before 8, he brought me on over to Carl's. Had dinner there and came home with him afterwards. Busy unpacking, etc. Planted dahlias front of house.

Tue Jun 3, 1958 -- Got around ready for planting vegetable seeds. Gary & Denny helped before school. Carl came early to milk at night so Lizzie and I went down to prayer meeting with him, called over at Foster's. Mr Parker brought us home.

Wed Jun 4, 1958 -- Got my lettuce, radish and cucumbers seeds planted. Also some flower seeds. Down on school bus to Bertha's. She combed my hair and we went to WMS at Lala's in evening. Came home with Norman.

Thu Jun 5, 1958 -- Up early and left for Fredericton around 7 with Mr Parker to Association meeting in Brunswick Street Baptist church. Dinner and supper in church. Lizzie Gould & I stayed at Clare's all night.

Fri Jun 6, 1958 -- A day of meetings, very good. We came home with Junior Boone after afternoon service. I went home with Lizzie, then Linden & Lois brought me up to Mountain church and Laurel's brought me home from there. Faye stayed with me all night.

Sat Jun 7, 1958 -- Lovely day. I didn't cook a thing. Faye & I dug up ground and planted another row of dahlias. Mr & Mrs Boyd & Marg here awhile in afternoon to get some dahlia bulbs. Out to Luella's and Laurel's in evening.

Sun Jun 8, 1958 -- A lovely morning. Carl, Bertha & boys, Nina Wood & I left for St. John around 6:30. In Fredericton, had lunch at Velma's, lunch with Mr & Mrs McKenney at Queenstown, calls in St. John, St. George, Baillie and Calais. Back to Carl's at 1 a.m. Nina & I stayed all night at Carl's after grand day.

Mon Jun 9, 1958 -- A clear cool day. Catching up in my diary and writing letters most of the day.

Tue Jun 10, 1958 -- Washed in a.m. Sprinkled weed killer over a lot of burdocks, hope they die. Pronto! Got ironing done. Down to prayer meeting with Mr Parker & Lizzie. He brought us home too.

Wed Jun 11, 1958 -- Cloudy, looked like rain so I got outdoors to fill another tire and plant nasturtiums seed before it rained but it didn't rain all day. Made brown sugar cookies in a.m. Mr Parker here for supper with me. Power off from 3:20 till 7:20. Wrote letters in evening.

Thu Jun 12, 1958 -- Sunday school rally at Brookton. Cloudy in early a.m. but cleared off lovely and warm. I went with Mr Parker, also Lala, Bertha Wood, Carlene and Joyce Farrell. Had grand day.

Fri Jun 13, 1958 -- Didn't accomplish much. Looking through Gleaners in a.m., watering dahlias, etc. Up to Mrs Harvey's awhile in afternoon. Out to Laurel's in evening and up to Norman's to stay all night.

Sat Jun 14, 1958 -- Raining a pour in early a.m. Irva went with Laurel to Canterbury on her way to F'ton. I washed dishes and separator and Norm brought me home around ten. Didn't cook a thing but swept and scrubbed kitchen etc. Up to Norman's to stay all night.

Sun Jun 15, 1958 -- Quite a strong wind still blowing. I got breakfast then washed dishes and separator and swept, made beds, etc. then came down home till SS time at 2:30, then church after that. Got supper at Norman's then went up to Addie's with them when they went for Irva.

Mon Jun 16, 1958 -- Showery but I washed tick & covering off kitchen couch, a rug, etc. Found some white paint and painted little red stand I've had since a child and touched up several small places that needed. Out to Corner to meeting in evening, Mr & Mrs Allaby there.

Tue Jun 17, 1958 -- Showery again. Carl came up to work at pulp down back here. I painted stand 2nd coat, filled tick for couch, washed and ironed doily to give Betty & Garn at shower. Went down with Carl early, had supper there and got my hair done. Prayer meeting.

Wed Jun 18, 1958 -- Went over stand again with the last of the white paint and got it set in front room. Got out big ruffled doily, made a year ago last winter and washed and starched and set to dry on dining room table.

Thu Jun 19, 1958 -- Nice day. Up to Fred's in afternoon to see Stan & Jackie's new baby. Worked some more with doily, etc.

Fri Jun 20, 1958 -- Lovely day. Cleaned in the cellar in a.m., made quite an improvement. Sprayed 3 gallons of week killer on burdocks, etc., etc. Up to Harvey's awhile in evening. Laurene, Ida, Faye and Marquita down for awhile later. Javexed and ironed 5 flour bags in p.m. Annie & Edith in to call awhile in afternoon.

Sat Jun 21, 1958 -- Put bread in pans before breakfast. Cooked by ten. Made doughnuts too, scrubbed kitchen, dusted etc., and washed bird droppings from several windows outside, etc. Up to Houlton with Norm & Irva in evening. Picked strawberries for my supper. Carl took Harvey's to Woodstock.

Sun Jun 22, 1958 -- Raining hard in early a.m. Up around 7, listened to Perry Rockwood, also sermon from F'ton (EJ McKnight), studied SS lesson in forenoon. Down to SS at 1, church service at 2 with Norman. Called at Ray's on way home. Supper at Norm's. Called at Harvey's in evening.

Mon Jun 23, 1958 -- Lovely day. Up early and away to St. John with Carl, Lizzie & Edith taking Alice down to Provincial Hospital. Rather sad to leave her there. Called on Villa, Aunt Josie, Harry and Nina Gamble at Musquash. Came to Helen's for lunch. Home around 8.

Tue Jun 24, 1958 -- Up in time to mail letter to contest. Lovely day to put out a washing. Picked a few strawberries, sprayed more burdocks. Lizzie & Irva down with Carl. I had supper then prayer meeting in evening.

Wed Jun 25, 1958 -- Nice sunny day. Got ironing done. Up to Epi's after separator milk in a.m. Weeded among my flowers and planted more cucumber seeds. Over to graduation at Canterbury in evening with Ethel, Donna & Ray Graham.

Thu Jun 26, 1958 -- Raining hard in a.m. but Carl and Paul went to work in afternoon. Rained again when they came up from work and is raining still (9 p.m.) I made pair pillowcases, trimmed with blue rick-rack for Annie and some dish towels. Irva in awhile.

Fri Jun 27, 1958 -- Lovely day. Over to school closing in forenoon, only Annie Graham & I for visitors. Came home from there and went on to town with Carl. Stopped off and had dinner at Guy Cropley's to see Ella & Leonard. Carl & Bertha got away to Juniper in afternoon.

Sat Jun 28, 1958 -- A beautiful day for a wedding. Garn & Betty and Connie got away around 9 a.m. The boys & I got along fine. I made bread and scrubbed the kitchen besides the general work. They got home around 2. Big crowd at shivaree at Merrill's in evening.

Sun Jun 29, 1958 -- A lovely day. I woke early, read some and must have gone back to sleep. Up at 8:30. SS at 11:30 I came up home with Norman's after that. Very quiet afternoon. Walked up the hill to go to church in evening. Wrote to Annie after I got home. To bed at eleven p.m.

Mon Jun 30, 1958 -- Almost missed the mail with my letter to Annie at 6:15. After my breakfast, talked on telephone and heard that Carl was going to Woodstock so I went with him to Laurel's. He got back early, had dinner, then I came home with him Ida & Marquita and on to town. Picked a quart of berries.

Tue Jul 1, 1958 -- Picked some more berries and preserved them at noon. Didn't have my dishes washed when a car rolled in, Uncle Herb, Ray, Mona and Mildred Stewart. Had supper here, then called at Norman's and Carl's. So glad to see them.

Wed Jul 2, 1958 -- Abner Veysey's funeral at Fosterville in afternoon. I went with Fred and Ethel. Nice funeral. Lots of lovely flowers. But Abner was so thin. Planted some more sprouted dahlias. Thu Jul 3, 1958 -- Up early and ready to go to town around 7 with Basil Boone, Lizzie and Annie went too and we helped clean church. Lala, Lydia & Bertha helped too. Lala & I had dinner at Bertha's. Finished church after dinner. Lizzie & I stayed down and made several calls.

Fri Jul 4, 1958 -- Lovely day, a bit cooler. Carl & Bertha and 4 boys arrived around 9. I was up early and had made brown sugar cookies after breakfast, before they came. Washed dishes then went out to pick berries tool. We went again after dinner, found nice berries. Carl started haying. Beautiful sunset. Carl found cow had lost her calf.

Sat Jul 5, 1958 -- Out early in a.m. and picked strawberries, enough to make a pie for dinner. Preserved berries picked Friday, had 6 pints. Carl here for dinner, mowed in orchard and field beside it. Quiet evening all by myself. Carl & Norman's cars went by.

Sun Jul 6, 1958 -- Cloudy. Listened to Parchauers talk at NBBI, also Perry Rockwood. Mr Parker called for me so I went down to church with him. He came for dinner with me, then went along to Mountain. I went to Corner with Marguerite to church there. 3:30 baptism at beach.

Mon Jul 7, 1958 -- Carl hoped it would stay fine for his haying but it was foggy and quite a heavy shower in a.m. He mowed some more in afternoon. I was over to Edith's to watch Calgary Stampede on TV. Home at 3:30, went berrying, got 1 ½ quarts. Not too wet.

Tue Jul 8, 1958 -- Foggy and rainy again. I washed, hung starched things up in shed chamber. Went to town in late afternoon with Carl, supper there. Prayer meeting in evening. Mr Parker brought me home.

Wed Jul 9, 1958 -- Got ironing done, packed my suitcase for Baillie. Went down with Carl and on to Calais with Mr Boynton. Annie came for me at Durgin's so I arrived in Baillie later.

Thu Jul 10, 1958 -- Lovely day. Just visiting. Down to DeWolfe to strawberry festival for supper. Lots to eat and a good crowd.

Fri Jul 11, 1958 -- Over to Aid meeting at Mrs Eva Morris' at Tower Hill in evening. Very foggy but quite a number there.

To church at Baillie to hear Mr Stairs at 15 to 10. Amos & Annie & I drove to St. Andrews in afternoon, called on Ada and Art and Si Watson at Hills Point and the Causeway. To church at DeWolfe in evening. Full day.

Mon Jul 14, 1958 -- Helen took girls to begin DVBS. Put out big washing.

Tue Jul 15, 1958 -- No entry.

Wed Jul 16, 1958 -- Helen & I away to town for some shopping. I tried on 8 or 9 lovely dresses at Unobski's, none to fit. Bought a cheapy one at Grant's. Rained an hour after we got home but Annie, Helen, Carol & I went to strawberry festival at Lynfield.

Thu Jul 17, 1958 -- Windy and cold. I picked 23 boxes berries in a.m. Over to Annie's in afternoon and picked over enough to fill 12 cans and got them sealed after supper. Good job done. Helen & I took milk in town then took girls to Lynfield in a.m.

Fri Jul 18, 1958 -- Morning work done, over to Lynfield with Helen to take the girls to bible school at 9. Over to Annie's in a.m., picked over berries. Annie made jam, etc. Over to bible school closing in evening, then on to Mrs Worrell's to Ladies Aid. Around 50 there so a good time.

Sat Jul 19, 1958 -- Morning work done, I went over to Annie's for the day. Watched TV "Thunderhead" in afternoon. Back to Helen's in evening. Watched "My sister Eileen", crazy yarn. Bed at 11:30. Girls & I picked 7 boxes berries after breakfast.

Sun Jul 20, 1958 -- Foggy and cloudy most of the day. Amos, Laurie, Ricky, Ronald, Bertha, Carol & I left Baillie for Pemberton around 10 fast time. Called at Bertha's. Girls & I went to SS, came up to Norman's for dinner, down home later, had lunch and Amos & Annie went home. Girls stayed for visit.

Mon Jul 21, 1958 -- Lovely sunny day. Woke early but did not get up till 6. Carol & Linda did not get up till late. I did not wash, spent most of the morning out of doors looking things over. Sheep at off dahlias while I was away.

Tue Jul 22, 1958 -- Woke at 6, thought it was 5, so almost missed the mail, had to run to road in my bare feet (ha). Took louvers off porch windows and cleaned off dirt, sprayed more burdocks, etc. Girls & I up to Irva's for supper. Called at Fred's on way home.

Wed Jul 23, 1958 -- A real warm day. Vivian came along around 8 a.m. and I went with her to Houlton, a good trip, home after 3. Very warm. We cooked hash, etc., on hot plate. Norman took us out to the beach for awhile to get cooled off.

Thu Jul 24, 1958 -- Hot again and a lazy day. Gary and Brian down in a.m. Girls went up to Norm's in afternoon and stayed for supper.

Fri Jul 25, 1958 -- Hot day. Cooked bread and doughnuts and the stew meat I got from Marlin H the night before. Played Chinese checkers etc. Missed ride out to beach in evening with Norman's. Ollie Welsh from Conn. called to see me about that time.

Sat Jul 26, 1958 -- A rainy day. Gary & Brian came down in a.m., rained hard so they stayed for dinner and went home with the mail. Not much Saturday's work.

Sun Jul 27, 1958 -- Cloudy. Girls & I went down to SS with Norman's. Over to Carl's afterwards had lunch and went with them to Houlton Air Show. Not much good on account of rain. Back to Carl's for supper and church in evening. Home with Norman's.

Mon Jul 28, 1958 -- Cloudy again but decided to wash. Got clothes washed and into rinse water. Carl's came along and we went with them to Woodstock and Houlton. Down to Island Park where they were getting ready for Old Home week. Good trip. Girls went on down to Carl's. Hung out washing after I got home at 6, but brought in sheet and table cloth before I went to bed. Too windy.

Tue Jul 29, 1958 -- Raining a pour in a.m. Hung sheet & table cloth up in shed chamber, brought down apronette (dry). After dinner Norman's called on their way home from Canterbury and I went up with them t to watch TV program of Princess Margaret. Got a ride home with Mabel & Basil. Went to prayer meeting in evening with Mr Parker.

Wed Jul 30, 1958 -- Every-thing soaked after the heavy rain of yesterday but cleared away at noon. Carl came up in afternoon and mowed in field back of barn. Heavy shower made him quit around 4. Carol up with Carl. I got ironing done. Killed bat No. 11 & wrote letters to Nina Ganible(??).

Thu Jul 31, 1958 -- Clear and sunny. I cooked molasses drop cookies, a mince pie and biscuits in a.m. Carl brought beet greens for dinner, very good. Up to Graham's awhile in afternoon. Luella and Meda Varney here. Edith Broad's little girl here in evening.

Fri Aug 1, 1958 -- I made brown sugar cookies early. Carl haying here. Bertha & the boys & Carol and Linda are up for the day. Had our first green peas. Lloyd & Garn helping Carl in afternoon. Lloyd stayed for supper. Got in a lot of hay.

Sat Aug 2, 1958 -- Didn't have any cooking to do so swept and dusted and scrubbed some. Over with the mail to call at Gordon Graham's and see Edith. When I started to walk home, Stanley & Jackie overtook me and brought me home. Carl, George & David hauled hay in afternoon. Out to beach with Norman's.

Tue Aug 5, 1958 -- Clear and cool. Looking through old papers on organ etc., in a.m. Went to town with the mail, called at Guy Cropley's to see Annie Varney. Reta and Austin there. rode on down with them, called at Mae's for supper with Carl. Called on Mrs Folster. Prayer meeting…

Wed Aug 6, 1958 -- A hot day. I cooked banana bread and packed lunch to go to WMS picnic at Sand Beach. Basil took Lala and me and came for us in evening. Not too many there but had a good time. I went later with Norman to take Irva and boys to meet Marg.

Thu Aug 7, 1958 -- A hot day. Merrill came up to help Norman get in two loads of hay. I went up to get the dinner for them. Came home in afternoon and made 10 bottles jam, 1 pint preserves and some to eat from raspberries. Bertha & boys up. Up to Norman's in evening to watch Princess program.

Fri Aug 8, 1958 -- Shower in morning. Norman down. No haying. Norman, Fred and Guy went down to help with work at cemetery. I went down to Lala's and we packed box for WMS to send to Port Workers at Saint John. Summer at Norman's, watched TV news. Came home, heavy showers later.

Sat Aug 9, 1958 -- Cloudy & windy. Not much doing in a.m. Looking up jokes for my reunion speech. Edith came over to talk on telephone and stayed awhile. I scrubbed and waxed bedroom and dining room floors, etc., and cooked molasses cake in afternoon. Quiet evening.

Sun Aug 10, 1958 -- Lovely sunshine and cool. Quiet a.m. Down to SS at 1 and church service at 2. Home for supper then out to Bible school closing at Green Mountain church. Good crowd and good program. Up to Lloyd's in evening. Rained, Lloyd brought be home.

Mon Aug 11, 1958 -- Got a big washing done in a.m. and ironed it all in afternoon. Over to Edith's in evening to watch TV and saw the Princess and heard her speak at Halifax, then waited till 10 to see her board the plane for home. Wrote to Annie 10:30.

Tue Aug 12, 1958 -- Another lovely day. Dust mopped upstairs and made up beds, etc., in a.m. Down town with the mail, supper with Maurice. Prayer meeting in evening, got a chance home with Betty and Garn and Lydia came too.

Wed Aug 13, 1958 -- Cooked doughnuts in a.m. Invited Mr Parker and his mother for dinner. He went on to Woodstock after dinner and Mrs Parker stayed with me till he came after his prayer meeting at Mountain in evening.

Thu Aug 14, 1958 -- Lovely day. Busy with this and that in forenoon. Went to town with mail in afternoon to get Bertha to comb my hair. I made molasses cookies, picked beans, etc. Came home in evening with Carl on their way fishing.

Fri Aug 15, 1958 -- Cooked oatmeal bread and a loaf of banana bread for reunion. Scrubbed and waxed kitchen floor and porch. Looking for Grace & Alton to drop in but they didn't come.

Sat Aug 16, 1958 -- Up early, had chicken cooking by six so it was well done before dinner. Cooked green beans too. Annie, Amos, Ricky and Bonita and Helen came for Gould reunion. Had a good day around the Hall at the Corner. Around 71 present. Good program, picnic, etc.

Sun Aug 17, 1958 -- Quiet forenoon. After lunch I walked up to Norman's and we went on to SS and church. Over to Carl's awhile to see how Denny's sore toe was coming. I came home with Mr Parker, we had lunch and I went with him out to Luella's and on out to Corner to call at Edwin's and see Maddie, his casket and the lovely flowers.

Mon Aug 18, 1958 -- Showers in a.m. some thunder. Mr Parker came for dinner and I went to the Corner with him to Maddie Farrell's funeral. A large funeral. I came home with Carl afterwards as Mr Parker was going up home for a week's vacation.

Tue Aug 19, 1958 -- Cloudy & wet in a.m. I went down with Laurel, made brown sugar cookies for Bertha etc. Prayer meeting in evening. Mr & Mrs Colwell, Mamie, Lydia & I there, but very good. They brought be home afterward.

Wed Aug 20, 1958 -- Lovely day. I worked at sewing blocks together for my quilt. Finished but last block was crooked so had to fix. Down to St. Croix in evening with Norman, Irva and boys. Called on Florence Farrell. Had a nice visit.

Thu Aug 21, 1958 -- Out to Laurel's with him in early a.m. Came back with him after dinner. Faye came down to visit me till Saturday.

Fri Aug 22, 1958 -- Cooked a batch of molasses puffs for Laurel's. Churned with egg beater, some sour cream I had on hand which took quite awhile. Phyllis Pierce and Jean & Laura called in afternoon. Out to Beach and Laurel's in evening with Norman's. Wrote up news.

Sat Aug 23, 1958 -- Lovely day. Gary & Brian down in a.m. and Faye went up with them for dinner and went home with her dad later. I made a banana bread for Denny and canned 15 pints of peas, give to Bertha by her dad. Out to Buckingham's for evening with Norman's.

Sun Aug 24, 1958 -- Beautiful day. Norman's wanted me to go with them on up to Grand Falls, etc., but I didn't go. I didn't have any way down to SS, so called Mamie and Basil came up for me. Not may out to SS and church. I went over to Carl's, had supper there, then out to Roll Call service at the Mountain church.

Mon Aug 25, 1958 -- Raining and rained hard all morning and sometimes rest of the day. I crocheted some, looked over letters on desk, sewed 3 in strip on ends and sides of quilt top to finish it, etc. Up to Lloyd's a few minutes in evening. Carl took Denny to hospital.

Tue Aug 26, 1958 -- Bertha went up to see Denny at hospital. Took Fred & Dolly with her. Denny lonesome but had a bad looking toe. Home about 4:30. Irva telephone me to come up to supper. Grace & Alton had arrived. Out to Roscoe's shivaree in evening.

Wed Aug 27, 1958 -- I went with Grace & Alton and Gary to St. John, I visited with Harry & Ollie. We had lunch there, back to Fredericton. I stayed all night with Clare.

Thu Aug 28, 1958 -- Alton & Grace came for me around noon. We had dinner at a restaurant, shopped around a bit. I didn't intend to buy anything but went in to Chippin's and bought dress and coat for $10, not bad. Got home around 6. Had supper and they left for Danforth later.

Fri Aug 29, 1958 -- I washed in a.m. Ironed in p.m. Carl & Bertha were going up to see Denny so Norman took me down after lunch to keep house, be there when Walter Leslie arrived. I hadn't been there long when he came, got his lunch, etc. Sat Aug 30, 1958 -- Intended to come home with mailman but didn't. Carl & Bertha & Walter went to Woodstock to get Denny. I stayed home to cook the bread, beans, etc. and stayed all night.

Sun Aug 31, 1958 -- A really hot day. Ray Graham brought me home in a.m. Back to SS at 2:30 and church at 3:30. I came up with Mr Parker and Eileen. On to Fredericton later with Norman's. I stayed all night at Clare's.

Mon Sep 1, 1958 -- Cloudy and looked like rain but cleared away later. Norman & Irva came for me at noon and took me over to Boyd's for dinner, then we went to Exhibition in afternoon. Mrs Boyd & I around together, had a good time. Home around 11. Tired but had a good night's sleep.

Tue Sep 2, 1958 -- Windy and cool. I picked blackberries in a.m. Packed suitcase and went down to Carl's to help for a few days and them getting ready to go to F'ton. Bertha going to Teacher's College. Mamie came to help; we canned 11 pints peaches and got supper for 3 men. I did not go to prayer meeting.

Wed Sep 3, 1958 -- Breakfast over, the 2 surveyors left for home. Mamie came over, helped with morning work and ironed till 11. I finished the ironing before we had dinner. Putting away ironed clothes took up most of the afternoon. Supper for Carl and Walter.

Thu Sep 4, 1958 -- Wind and cool. After breakfast Carl & Walter took off for some fishing at Beechwood. Carl & Denny went on to Suther's to stay all night. Blaine and I stayed alone ( a pain in left side of chest).We went over to call on Agnes Brooks in afternoon.

Fri Sep 5, 1958 -- Lovely day. I dust mopped all of upstairs, scrubbed kitchen, etc. Picked green beans, dug potatoes, made dressing, cooked chicken stew supper. Carl & Walter & Denny came home, then Carl went back to Wood's to get Bertha before we had supper. Baked fish for Walter.

Sat Sep 6, 1958 -- Beautiful morning but cloudy in afternoon and raining at night. After breakfast, I went with Carl to boat landing. Spednic was calm and lovely. We went for a little sail along the beach in the canoe. I came up home with Laurel, picked blackberries, apples, washed few things, etc.

Tue Sep 9, 1958 -- Ironed in a.m. and some after dinner. Mamie came over to fix hem in my new coat. Vivian Foster called. Prayer meeting in evening. Carl started to shingle porch roof, bigger job then he expected.

Wed Sep 10, 1958 -- A rainy day. Carl brought Denny up to school and I came up to can apples. Got 14 pints done (apple & orange) Missionary meeting at Mrs Folster's in evening.

Thu Sep 11, 1958 -- SS rally at Haynesville. Lydia & I went with Mr Parker. I had to give response to address of welcome. Felt better and enjoyed the day. We came home by way of Houlton so had a nice long ride. Missed seeing Ada & Arthur & Helen & Ray.

Fri Sep 12, 1958 -- Clear but cool. I sewed to keep busy most of the day. Scrubbed kitchen, etc. Cooked stew meat for supper and made soup but wasn't very good. Carl & Blaine went to see Mary Kinney in evening so I went out to Laurel's awhile. Bertha came back with him.

Sat Sep 13, 1958 -- Washed, ironed, etc. Went to Houlton in evening with Carl & Bertha, Bob & Velma and Dolly, Sheryl, Denny and Blaine. Should have done more shopping but didn't.

Sun Sep 14, 1958 -- Down to church and SS with Norman's. Over to Carl's for dinner and Mr Parker came there for me. Went to church at Mountain, played organ. On to church at Corner and up to Grottie's afterwards. Supper there, visited with Nina & Vanche.

Mon Sep 15, 1958 -- Intended to finish ironing but power went off in afternoon, off till nearly dark. Watched TV in evening.

Tue Sep 16, 1958 -- Finished ironing. Mamie over in afternoon, we went over the River. A lovely day. Prayer meeting in evening, Lydia, Mamie & I.

Wed Sep 17, 1958 -- Made tomato pickles in a.m. Out to Grottie's in evening with Basil & Mamie when they went up to Hattie's. Nina & Vanche were still there so had a nice little visit.

Thu Sep 18, 1958 -- Rained hard all day, didn't do much. Got letter ready to send for cards to Douglas Card Co. Down to Lydia's to mail it after dinner. Up to call at Flossie Cropley's later when Carl went up to get Denny.

Fri Sep 19, 1958 -- Made tomato pickles in a.m. and a batch of filled cookies in afternoon. And applesauce with cranberries. Carl went to Canterbury to meet Bertha after his day's work.

Sat Sep 20, 1958 -- Busy day. Bertha washed. I made bread, we canned 16 pints ripe tomatoes. Lydia came up and vacuumed every room in the house except kitchen. I swept and scrubbed that. Picked rest of tomatoes. Rather weary at night. Bertha & Lydia took me home.

Sun Sep 21, 1958 -- A lovely day. I was down in orchard to get the last of August apples, etc. Down to SS 11:30. Back to Norman's for dinner. Down home around 2. Packed suitcase etc., and came down with Carl later. He took Bertha out to Wood's to go back to Fredericton. Church in evening, not there.

Mon Sep 22, 1958 -- A rainy day. Carl went to work but came home before dinner. Sold the lamb to John Flemming. Mamie over in forenoon awhile. I got ironing done. Jennie down in p.m. Got Carl to take her to out to Wetmore's to get some papers signed. Boys & I went too.

Tue Sep 23, 1958 -- Washed & ironed something for myself. Down to Mrs Folster's awhile in afternoon. Prayer meeting in evening. Just Mamie & I besides Mr Parker there.

Wed Sep 24, 1958 -- Lovely warm day. I cooked brown sugar cookies, oatmeal, bread and an apple crumble for dinner. Mamie came for dinner. Mr Parker there too and Carl came home from work. Suther & Hazel & Tubby there for supper.

Thu Sep 25, 1958 -- Mr Parker, Hazel Boone and Aunt Addie and I over to District meetings at Nackawick afternoon and evening services and a lovely supper at Legion hall. Home around 11:15. A lovely day and a moonlight night. Carl expected sports but didn't come.

Fri Sep 26, 1958 -- Another fine day. Churned in a.m. Butter came soft so had quite a session with it. Rather tired in afternoon so didn't do much. Got supper over, boys & I, then Bertha came with Carl . Mamie & I started to go calling in evening but folks away.

Sat Sep 27, 1958 -- Cloudy in a.m., began raining at noon. Still raining 10 p.m. I came home in early a.m. with Carl, gathered in a pail of apples, box of cranberries, cucumbers, blackberries and strangest of all, 17 ripe strawberries in a.m. Made q quarts & 5 pints of apple cranberry sauce, 1 quart vinegar pickles, etc.

Sun Sep 28, 1958 -- Cloudy in a.m. but cleared off later. Helen, Frankie, Annie, Annette, and Glenn, Annie & Bonita came to Carl's. for dinner. Over when I got home from SS. Up to Norman's later and down here for supper. I went up with Carl later.

Mon Sep 29, 1958 -- I got clothes in off line around noon and ironed most it in afternoon.

Tue Sep 30, 1958 -- Lovely day. I finished ironing. Prayer meeting in evening. Only Mamie & I there besides Mr Parker. We were down to call on Mrs Folster afterwards, she was not feeling well.

Wed Oct 1, 1958 -- Rained hard all day. Carl & Denny away to Woodstock for the day so Blaine & I were home alone. I knit some.

Thu Oct 2, 1958 -- Up to Jean's for awhile in a.m. got orders for Christmas cards. Mamie & I went to call at Mrs Hamilton's, the parsonage and at the house where Betty and Winnie were cleaning. Cooked pancakes and lamb chops for supper.

Fri Oct 3, 1958 -- Mamie in and cleaned the cabin. Blaine & I over the River in a.m. I got the churning done after a long session, cooked a molasses cake. After supper Blaine & I went with Carl out to Wetmore's to get Bertha who came from F'ton with Elva Tompkins.

Sat Oct 4, 1958 -- A lovely cool day and a busy one at Carl's. Carl went up to help Norman with his threshing but came home before noon, so made dinner bit more of a problem. Bertha had to go out to Wood's to meet Frances Todd, so I moved up home for a week.

Sun Oct 5, 1958 -- A rainy day. Down to SS at 11:30. I stayed down to Carl's. Two sports had arrived Sat night and Mary Kinney had come to take over. Carl took Bertha & Frances out to Wood's around 4. I had supper with Ellis and Jennie. Church in evening. $20.54 offering.

Mon Oct 6, 1958 -- Washed in a.m. Made hot dog relish in afternoon, etc. Ironed in evening, all but one dress. Wrote to Annie. Tired.

Tue Oct 7, 1958 -- Out with Laurel in early a.m. Stayed to come home on school bus. Faye came down to stay all night with me. Mr Parker had the prayer meeting here in evening. Lala, Lydia, Lizzie, Ethel, Faye & I.

Wed Oct 8, 1958 -- Cleaned up on porch and upstairs too and gave the pantry a bit of cleaning away. Up to Addie's in evening when Norman went to take Irva over to Mary's. Home at 10 to 11.

Thu Oct 9, 1958 -- A bit foggy and cloudy in a.m. but turned out to be a beautiful day, like summer. Dahlias next the house still blooming and beautiful and the woods are so lovely to look at. It is good to be alive. I was up to Ethel's in afternoon with Christmas cards.

Fri Oct 10, 1958 -- Another lovely day. Busy getting ready to go to Baillie for weekend. Norman took me down to Carl's around 3. Went to Calais with Mr Boynton after 5. Annie came to Rosemary's for me. Arrived at Helen's in due season. She was away to Ladies Aid.

Sat Oct 11, 1958 -- Rather cold and windy. Over to Annie's in afternoon and to supper. Up to the Mann'' to a shower for the younger daughter, Frances. Bad weather but a nice time.

Sun Oct 12, 1958 -- Nice cool day. To church at DeWolfe in a.m. to hear Mr Stairs. Chicken at Annie's. To church with Helen at Baillie in afternoon.

Mon Oct 13, 1958 -- Lovely morning. Helen & Glenn brought be to Calais, I came to Forest City with Mr Boynton. At Carl's were Bob & Velma and family and a Mr & Mrs Brewer for the weekend. Bertha went back to F'ton with ??

Tue Oct 14, 1958 -- Prayer meeting in evening. Just Mamie & I.

Wed Oct 15, 1958 -- Busy day getting ready for WMS meeting in evening. Blaine & I over River in a.m. Cooked cake. Mamie came over in afternoon to help with sandwiches. Only Lydia, Lala, Irva & Lizzie there in evening.

Thu Oct 16, 1958 -- Lovely day. Mamie & I over to call on Mrs Hamilton in afternoon, also at parsonage and at Betty & Garn's in afternoon.

Fri Oct 17, 1958 -- Out to Wood's in evening to meet Bertha. Basil's and Alton's there, so quite an evening.

Sat Oct 18, 1958 -- Intended to come up with Laurel but decided to stay down to go to the birthday party for Jennie in the evening. Had a busy day with Bertha. And a good time at the party.

Sun Oct 19, 1958 -- Down to SS at 11:30 and over to Carl's afterwards. Carl, Bertha, Blaine, Fred & Dolly & I out to Pentecostal baptism at Sand Beach in afternoon. I had supper at Norman's and down to church in the evening.

Mon Oct 20, 1958 -- Annie's birthday. Blaine & I came up with Carl around 8 o'clock, built a nice fire. I piled wood up in shed in a.m., dug dahlias bed in afternoon, helped Denny and Paul pick Alexanders and Russets after school. Late in the supper and dishes.

Tue Oct 21, 1958 -- Washed a few things in a.m. Usual house work for the day. Prayer meeting at Irva's. Mr Parker brought Lala, Lydia, Mamie & I up with him.

Wed Oct 22, 1958 -- Got ironing done. Did some mending, etc. Went to call on Mrs Knox, got order for Christmas cards in afternoon.

Thu Oct 23, 1958 -- A nice day. Mamie & went over to help Lydia paper ceiling in Betty's and Garn's home, the house Abner had lived in. Carl, Basil and sports in to Bolton, late getting home.

Fri Oct 24, 1958 -- A rainy day. Carl went up to Ridge to guide but came home at noon. He went to Canterbury in late afternoon, brought Bertha and Frances Todd back with him, and Mary Kinney. I got the churning done p.m.

Sat Oct 25, 1958 -- Lovely day. Busy a.m. I mixed bread, Bertha doughnuts and Mary cookies, all at once. Then I washed separator and dishes most of morning. Carl, Bertha, Frances & I had trip to Houlton in afternoon. Quiet evening here, Sheppie & I. 7 sports came to Carl's.

Sun Oct 26, 1958 -- Lovely sunny day. Down to church and SS in a.m. with Norman's. Mr Parker late. I went over to Carl's after SS, stayed till Carl took Bertha and Frances out to Wood's. Was home awhile then went up to Norman's for supper, the boys there. Came down home with them.

Mon Oct 27, 1958 -- A rainy day didn't wash. Made banana bread in a.m. Denny over to dinner with me. Up to Harvey's awhile in afternoon. Irva in awhile after school. Got 3 letters written and out to box in evening.

Tue Oct 28, 1958 -- Another rainy day so didn't wash. Got ready to go to town with Laurel after dinner. Lizzie went too and we went to call on Mrs Foster and Vivian, stayed to supper. Prayer meeting at Guy Cropley's. Carl brought us home.

Wed Oct 29, 1958 -- Another rainy day. I sent up to call on Epi awhile in forenoon, got another order for cards ready to send + $18. Finished 1st sock of the season, and started its mate. Read some, played organ etc. Irva in awhile after school.

Thu Oct 30, 1958 -- Went out to Laurel's with him in early morning. Cooked some brown sugar cookies for Ida, knit some. Home quite early and up to call at Fred's and Leeman's collecting for Bible Society.

Fri Oct 31, 1958 -- Halloween. Got my washing done. Blaine came up to visit me in a.m. land go over to Halloween party at school in afternoon. Paul called and later Charlie for Trick or Treat in evening. Finished pair socks and washed out.

Sat Nov 1, 1958 -- Finished ironing and mended some in a.m. Went down with Laurel to Carl's. 7 sports gone and Mary went home with mail so very quiet there. A sport arrived but went back to Houlton for the night. Over to Betty's and Garn's housewarming. A good crowd.

Sun Nov 2, 1958 -- Sunday. Quite windy. Cool but sunny. Quiet a.m. Down to SS at 2:30 and church at 3:30. Over to Carl's afterwards. Sport there for supper. He took his station wagon and they went to take Bertha to Meductic. I came up home with them, then went with Norman & Brian out to Laurel's.

Mon Nov 3, 1958 -- Beautiful morning but cloudy. Later, but not cold. I made bread, and it was lovely bread too, churned with egg beater (an awful job) got nearly a pound so worth the trouble. Carried some wood in box and shed, knit a little, etc.

Tue Nov 4, 1958 -- Lovely warm day. Made molasses cookies in a.m. Not very good. Prayer meeting here in evening. Lala, Lydia, Mamie, Flossie Cropley, Lizzie and I.

Wed Nov 5, 1958 -- Looked like rain but didn't and was warm. Ethel took Lizzie & me out to knitting bee at Nellie Farrell's. Lizzie & I each knit one sock and mittens. Good crowd, good dinner & supper. WMS at Irva's in evening.

Thu Nov 6, 1958 -- Cloudy, looked like rain but warm. Finished mittens for Gary, darned socks for boys, mended Denny's coat, etc. Went to town with Laurel & Ida just for the drive. Carried some wood in shed. Picked some Wolf Rivers apples. Good yield.

Fri Nov 7, 1958 -- Another lovely day. Scrubbed and cleaned up in by bedroom, washed a few things, pulled up some more dahlias out in yard. Started footing a pair socks, carried a few loads of wood in shed, etc. Up to call at Lloyd's a few minutes. Irva in after school.

Sat Nov 8, 1958 -- Always busy. Down to cemetery in afternoon with the mail. Rather a lonesome day, thing of Nov 8 in other years. Wedding Anniversary.

Sun Nov 9, 1958 -- Down to SS with Norman's. Over here to Carl's for lunch and back to church at 2,. Went up home and came back with Carl when he took Bertha out to Wood's. Bill and Tony arrived.

Mon Nov 10, 1958 -- Bill and Tony, Carl & Basil got away hunting, home before noon with 2. Lunch in the kitchen so we couldn't do much. I churned twice in Mary's little glass church, etc.

Tue Nov 11, 1958 -- Cloudy and rained some, so didn't wash. Mamie & I watched late show in afternoon., The Country Parson, had seen it before at F'ton. Over to parsonage for prayer meeting, only Mamie, Lydia and I there. Watched TV Remembrance Day program at Ottawa 11:45.

Wed Nov 12, 1958 -- Water in hot water tank making horrible racket as soon as fire was built in morning, so we didn't keep much fire all day after breakfast was over. Chop Suey for supper and jello. Carl operated on water system in evening.

Thu Nov 13, 1958 -- Mary washed in a.m. Cooked some in afternoon.

Fri Nov 14, 1958 -- Up to Doris' new store for a few things, brown sugar, macaroni, tomato soup, then over to the mail and some more shopping at Durgan's for Mary to cook with. Ironed the rest of the day. Bertha came home that night.

Sat Nov 15, 1958 -- Busy forenoon. I churned again. Mary washed. Bill and Tony and Carl back for dinner and got ready to leave for home with their two deer. Christmas cards arrived. I went up home in late afternoon. Mary went home with Bill.

Sun Nov 16, 1958 -- A nice clear day. Up late. Went to SS at 11:30 and back to church at 3:30, then up to play at evening service at Green Mountain with Mr Parker.

Mon Nov 17, 1958 -- Cloudy and a bit of hail and rain. Carl up home to put pile of wood in shed and to put the sheep together, etc. I got ironing done, so hadn't much spare time.

Tue Nov 18, 1958 -- Dark and rainy and muddy day. I cooked bread and cake, dry mopped bedroom and living room, etc. Mamie in awhile. Prayer meeting at the Knox house in evening, very good. Mr Parker there, came from Woodstock. Mrs Knox served lunch.

Wed Nov 19, 1958 -- Raining again.

Thu Nov 20, 1958 -- A lovely day for a change. Up home for the day. Carl put banking around. I washed windows, etc.

Fri Nov 21, 1958 -- Rained a pour. Carl, the boys & I got away early, took our wool to the mill, got 20 pounds yarn. On to Fredericton, dinner at Paradise Restaurant. I visited Clare & Alfred till we came home at night.

Sat Nov 22, 1958 -- Quite a busy day. Delivered last of my Christmas cards in late afternoon.

Sun Nov 23, 1958 -- Fine day. Up late. SS at 11:30, church at 2, not many there. We had good chicken dinner here at Carl's. He & boys went to take Bertha out to Wood's. I went down to Mrs Folster's awhile after church. Over to Mamie's awhile in evening.

Mon Nov 24, 1958 -- Made bread and got ironing done. Lloyd Gould and Leonard White from New Jersey called awhile after supper on a hunting trip.

Tue Nov 25, 1958 -- Cleared off after snowstorm. Colder. Kids here to play with Blaine. Got churning done. Mamie in awhile in a.m. Down to Lydia's when mail came. Marguerite down for 1 pound yarn. I went back with her to call at Mildred's. Prayer meeting at Mrs Folster's. Started Genesis.

Wed Nov 26, 1958 -- Snowed hard in a.m. so rather a mess for moving out. Carl made several trips and Blaine & I came after dinner, dishes were washed. Busy day. Snow turned to rain at night.

Thu Nov 27, 1958 -- Clear and colder. Busy putting things away. Brought in table from porch and put up ?? etc., etc.

Mon Dec 8, 1958 -- Very cold. Away to Fredericton in early a.m. to take Bertha and Dolores back in time for school. Dolly went too, got our permanent in a.m. On to St. John in afternoon, called on Ollie, Aunt Josie in p.m. Back to F'ton by 10 p.m.. I stayed at Clare's all night.

Tue Dec 9, 1958 -- Cold again. Dolly & I shopping in a.m. Home in late afternoon, very cold here in house, water froze, etc. And rats ruined the fruit cake I had made. Did not go to prayer meeting.

Wed Dec 10, 1958 -- Carl took us down to Lydia's to our WMS meeting in the evening.

Fri Dec 12, 1958 -- We had Mamie to come up and keep house while Carl went to Woodstock and Dolly & I went to Houlton with Ray and Arlene. Carl picked me up late afternoon after a good day's shopping.

Sun Dec 21, 1958 -- Very cold. Carl's or Norman's car wouldn't start so didn't get down to SS. Got car going in afternoon. Bertha, Carl and boys went out to Wood's for supper. Down to church in evening.

Mon Dec 22, 1958 -- Concert at Mountain church in evening. Carl took me out and I came home afterwards with Mr Parker. A very good concert.

Tue Dec 23, 1958 -- Carl, Bertha, Blaine & I away to Woodstock in a.m. I visited Nettie Morehouse. Harry in hospital with bad heart. We came back through Houlton, got some shopping done. Home at 6 and down to concert at church in evening.

Wed Dec 24, 1958 -- Busy day getting ready for Christmas. I cooked oatmeal and banana bread, etc.

Thu Dec 25, 1958 -- Christmas day, clear and cold. Unloaded tree before breakfast, lots of lovely gifts. Had dinner at Norman's. Boys were there. Carl & Bertha went out to Wood's. Amos, Annie, Helen, Linda, Annette and Bonita came in afternoon, had supper and stayed all night. Out to Laurel's awhile in evening.

Fri Dec 26, 1958 -- Packed my suitcase and came to Baillee with the girls, staying at Annie's this week.

Sat Dec 27, 1958 -- Knit a pair mittens for Glenn. Helen and I up to have supper with Mr & Mrs ?, a very nice time.

Sun Dec 28, 1958 -- Clear and cold. Watched the Bells of St. Mary's on TV in afternoon. Up to Robinson's to church in evening to hear Mr Stairs. Good sermon. "We have not passed this way before."

Mon Dec 29, 1958 -- Milder and looked like rain so Annie didn't wash. Over to Helen's to supper and back to get ready for meeting of club here in evening. A nice time.

Tue Dec 30, 1958 -- Here it ends. We pick it up again on.... Thu Jan 1, 1959 -- A nice day at Annie's and a lovely new Year's day dinner. Chick and all the fixings. Supper at Helen's, then Annie and I went to St. Stephen and called on Ada Logan and Earl and Lottie.

Fri Jan 2, 1959 -- Helen brought me to Calais early morning to come up with Mr Boynton to Forest City. Carl met me there so I arrived ok.

Sat Jan 3, 1959 -- Busy day. Carl took Bertha to Canterbury to get her hair done in p.m.

Sun Jan 4, 1959 -- Down to SS in a.m. and to church service in evening. Out to Laurel's awhile in afternoon with Norman's to see Ida and the new baby girl, born Dec 31st, Penelope Candace.

Mon Jan 5, 1959 -- Very cold and windy. Carl went to take Bertha back to Fredericton after vacation. He took Blaine with him, got home around 5. After supper, Mr Barker came car refused to go so Carl went to take young people home. Barker stayed here all night.

Tue Jan 6, 1959 -- Very cold and windy again. Busy job keeping the fires going strong. Minister got away after dinner to take car to Canterbury for repairs. No prayer meeting that night.

Wed Jan 7, 1959 -- Cold and windy. I talked with Helen in a.m. Norman, Carl and I over to Haynesville to Uncle Herb's funeral at the old house. All the family were there. Glad to see them all but so sorry to think of Uncle Herb gone; Jan 5th.

Thu Jan 8, 1959 -- Not quite so cold. Carl and Norman went to work. Made molasses cake in afternoon, warm for supper.

Fri Jan 9, 1959 -- I cooked brown sugar cookies in a.m. Cleared up in pantry in afternoon. Stan, Ted and George in to play rook with Carl in evening. Short and busy days.

Sat Jan 10, 1959 -- A nice day, warmer than the other days of this week. Carl helping Norman hauling out pulp. Boys went out to woods with them in afternoon. I cooked bread and beans and cleaned up the whole house. George in evening.

Sun Jan 11, 1959 -- Bertha not home this weekend. Carl took boys and me down to church and SS in a.m. Laurene and Faye came down in later afternoon and stayed to supper.

Mon Jan 12, 1959 -- A lovely day, so I washed by hand the spread from my bed and a few other things. Dry enough to bring in later afternoon. Carl washed with machine. Basil brought Lala up and we went over church treasury book.

Tue Jan 13, 1959 -- Another nice day but I did not try to iron. Carl took Lizzie and me down to the Annual Business meeting in evening. Officers much the same as last year.

Wed Jan 14, 1959 -- Lovely day and I was extra busy getting ready for WMS meeting here in evening. Basil and Lala came and Annie G, Irva and Lizzie. Orange cake, cookies and sandwiches for lunch. Ironed in a.m.

Thu Jan 15, 1959 -- A nice mild day but cloudy with a light snow fall. Busy day doing this and that, tried to sew a little in afternoon whipping seams on the dress Carl & Bertha gave me for Christmas. Ray G over awhile in evening.

Fri Jan 16, 1959 -- A sleet storm in the night and everything had a smooth sheet of crust in a.m. It grew warmer and rained hard most of day and night. Carl away in afternoon to get TV fixed. Blaine not feeling too good all day. Churned.

Sun Jan 18, 1959 -- Carl took boosy and me down to SS in a.m. and again to church at night. Forgot my glasses so couldn't play very much. Good sermon. Mr Parker brought Edith, Eileen, Larry and Donald Wood so added to our small number. 7.

Tue Jan 20, 1959 -- No feeling too good all day. Had not intended to go down to prayer meeting in evening but Bert & Phyllis and Lizzie came for me so I went. Had meeting at Mrs Folster's, a nice service.

Thu Jan 22, 1959 -- Foggy and icy. Carl away to Woodstock for the day. I cleaned up in cubbyhole beside chimney in my bedroom. A lot of cards from one box, etc.

Fri Jan 23, 1959 -- Busy trying to clean up a bit before Bertha came. Had supper soon as Carl came home and he went to meet the bus at Meductic. I went out to stay at Laurel's while he was gone.

Sat Jan 24, 1959 -- Bertha washed, cooked two pies, doughnuts and cake. I cooked bread, washed dishes, scrubbed, etc. Faye came down with mail for short visit. I got my order of garment rack from Simpson Sears.

Sun Jan 25, 1959 -- Snowing (didn't amount to too much) when I got up for breakfast with Carl. Bertha and boys slept later. Bertha combed my hair. I went down to church and SS with Norman's, stayed for dinner with them and went for drive later over to Weston store. Bertha went back. TV in evening.

Fri Jan 30, 1959 -- Bertha came to Meductic on bus, Sam went to meet them. Carl went out to Collier's to get her. Roads very icy in spots.

Sat Jan 31, 1959 -- Bertha washed, cooked, etc. I cooked bread & beans, washed dishes, etc. Shower for Charlene at Lyndon's but too cold & icy to go.

Sun Feb 1, 1959 -- Very cold. Carl's car would not start so Denny and I went down to Sunday School with Norman in a.m. Out to Wood's for supper and on to Buckingham's.

Mon Feb 2, 1959 -- It grew milder and was really nice in afternoon. I found my old creeper overshoes and went out for a stroll on the ice in the yard. Letter in mail from Texas telling of Ann's death. No prayer meeting.

Wed Feb 4, 1959 -- Snowed in night and then rained most of the day, so made more ice. Churned in a.m. Carl and Norman away to Woodstock and Houlton. I intended to go but decided not to when I saw the weather. Finished pair double mittens for Blaine. Some TV. No WMS in evening.

Thu Feb 5, 1959 -- Not much doing. Carl cut his hand quite a deep little cut around noon so could not go cut wood as he intended. Laurence G over here skating, stayed for dinner. Blaine out all afternoon. Very pleasant.

Fri Feb 6, 1959 -- Carl took Stanley and Jackie to Houlton. Roads still icy so we cancelled WMS at Lala's until next week. Carl went to Meductic to meet Bertha on the bus. I went out to Laurel's to visit while they were gone.

Sat Feb 7, 1959 -- Carl washed in a.m., Bertha cooked doughnuts, layer cake, etc. I cooked bread. They went to town in afternoon. I got waistline of dress they gave me Christmas fixed so I could wear it.

Sunday, Feb 8, 1959 -- I woke around 7, lay there awhile then got up and built kitchen fire and sat beside it to read the Gleaners. Helen called to wish me Happy Birthday and today they wouldn't be coming up as planned. Down to SS with Norman. No church service. Very cold & windy. Lovely birthday cake and ice cream. Down to shower for Betty at Mrs Knox's in evening.

Mon Feb 9, 1959 -- Very cold and still icy. School bus did not go. I finished ironing, got a bit of mending done, etc.

Tue Feb 10, 1959 -- Quite cold again. Not doing much. Did not go down to prayer meeting at Elmer's in evening. Still too icy to enjoy going out in evening.

Wed Feb 11, 1959 -- Missionary meeting at Lala's in evening. Carl took Lizzie, Irva and me down, only Lydia from down town. Nice meeting and lovely lunch.

Thu Feb 12, 1959 -- Blaine and I up to Harvey's awhile in afternoon.

Fri Feb 13, 1959 -- Albert & Phyllis took Lizzie & me out to Mountain in evening. World Day of Prayer service at Mountain church. Quite a few there. I had to play the organ but got along ok. Cold and windy.

Sat Feb 14, 1959 -- Bertha cooked doughnuts, lemon pie and a cake. I cooked bread and beans. She also put out washing in a.m. so we were busy all day. They went to Canterbury in evening and I went to spend the time with Addie. Eldon came over from Harold's.

Sun Feb 15, 1959 -- Snow in early a.m. I got up 7:30 and built fires. Norman not going to SS so Carl took us down, only 7 there. I went with Mamie for dinner. We called on Mrs Knox. Church at 2, then I came up with Mr Parker. Bertha and Carl gone but came back later.

Mon Feb 16, 1959 -- Got ironing done in forenoon. Wrote letter to Nettie Morehouse, Nellie Watters, news to Gleaner and contest letter.

Tue Feb 17, 1959 -- Carl away to Woodstock early a.m. to get chainsaw fixed, hoping to get back by noon but did not come till supper time. Lizzie down in afternoon. We went to call at Lloyd's on her way home. Prayer meeting at Norman's in evening.

Wed Feb 18, 1959 -- Mild and a little snow falling. I made a pie in a.m. Wrote a letter in afternoon and 2 more at night. Carl took Murray to town in evening, snowing hard, he met Mr Parker on top of hill and he came back to stay all night.

Thu Feb 19, 1959 -- A lot of snow piled up everywhere. Biggest storm of winter. Mr Parker stayed till after dinner. Carl & Norman out to work in afternoon. I copied notes from Mr Parker's book on Genesis in afternoon. Knit some, watched TV in evening.

Fri Feb 20, 1959 -- Very cold so Norman and Carl did not go to work. Carl went to town in afternoon so Blaine & I went too. Intended to call at Mildred's but too much snow to wade, so went on down to Mamie's. Carl washed when we got home. I called on Epi. Bertha came home.

Sat Feb 21, 1959 -- Cold in a.m. but not so bad later. I cooked bread, Bertha cooked cookies, cake and a custard pie, got ironing done, etc. She & Carl to town in evening.

Sun Feb 22, 1959 -- Cold. Down to church and SS in a.m. Bertha & Carl & boys came home after church but I stayed to SS and came up with Mr Parker. Gave him dinner, then went with him out to Wood's. Bertha went back with Lester & Edith. Back home to supper.

Thu Feb 26, 1959 -- Another clear sunny day. Cooked mince pie in a.m., banana bread in afternoon. Laurene came down on bus to stay all night. Up to Irva's in evening.

Fri Feb 27, 1958 -- Another lovely day, 5 below in F'ton. Busy day clearing away to go to Calais at night with Mr Boynton. Carl took me to town. Had a nice drive to Calais to Rosemary's. Annie met me there and we went to visit Helen at hospital.

Sat Feb 28, 1959 -- Nice day. I finished pair mittens for Amos in a.m. Over to Helen's in afternoon and stayed to supper. Finished pair mittens for Frankie. In town with him, Linda, Annette and Elaine in evening to visit Helen in hospital.

Sun Mar 1, 1959 -- Cloudy and not cold. Annie & I and kids took off to spend the day at Bernice's. Went to United church at DeWolfe on our way. Late dinner. Left there 6:30, came to St. Stephen and I called at hospital then we came to Baillie for church.

Mon Mar 2, 1959 -- Lovely day, thawed a lot. Annie but put big washing, etc. I patched overalls. Annie, Carol, Linda & I in town in evening to visit Helen at hospital.

Tue Mar 3, 1959 -- Patched overalls for Amos in a.m. Over to visit with Caroline afternoon, stayed to supper, did some patching and darning, etc. Annie and kids came over in evening to walk back with me, sloppy and warmer. Frankie to town in evening.

Wed Mar 4, 1959 -- A snowstorm. Annie, Bonita and I went to town and back in the midst of it, not very pleasant, so we did not go to Calais at all. Was glad to get home again. Watched TV in evening.

Thu Mar 5, 1959 -- Clear and colder. Frankie took milk to town and took me over to Calais. Came up with Mr Boynton to Forest City, visited Mamie awhile, then Carl came for me. Home again and on the job. Cooked a molasses cake for supper. Helen came home from CMH.

Fri Mar 6, 1959 -- Big snowstorm afternoon and evening. Carl went to meet Bertha in evening. Mr Parker couldn't go on home on account of drifts, so came here to stay all night.

Thu Mar 12, 1959 -- I cooked jam-jams in a.m. Crocheted in afternoon. Snowstorm and heavy wind afternoon and night.

Fri Mar 13, 1959 -- Nothing much doing. Lots of snow had fallen so Carl & Denny had some shoveling. I crocheted on doily besides the general housework. Carl & Norman & Blaine took both TV's over to Lee's in afternoon to fix. Carl went to meet Bertha in evening.

Sun Mar 15, 1959 -- Carl took boys and me down to SS in a.m. He took Bertha out to Wood's in afternoon. I was up to Norman's for supper and from there to church in evening.

Mon Mar 16, 1959 -- Down town in afternoon to call on Mamie. Found her down to Mrs Folster's, so had my visit there.

Tue Mar 17, 1959 -- Trip to Woodstock with Norman, visited Nettie & Harry. Down to prayer meeting at Mrs Folster's in evening. Mr Parker not there, so had a sing.

Fri Mar 20, 1959 -- Carl & Blaine went to Woodstock so I went out to visit at Laurel's. Denny took his dinner to school. Carl went to meet Bertha at night.

Sun Mar 22, 1959 -- Snowing and blowing a gale. Norman & Irva & boys and I had trip to Baillie. Not snowing down there but windy and cold. Church service at Helen's so we heard Mr Stairs preach once again. I had dinner at Helen's, though others went over to Annie's. I went over to see Mr Palmer later. We got home about 3.

Mon Mar 23, 1959 -- I seemed to feel a bit tired so didn't do much. Wrote to Elsie N in afternoon, to aunt Levina in evening. Got Helen's and Linda's birthday car & gift ready and Easter cards to Miss Ingersoll, Mrs Hicks, Harry & Nettie and Louise so quite a bit of writing. Clam stew for supper.

Tue Mar 24, 1959 -- Cold and windy again. Had an ironing to finish. Wrote to Mary Gurbey in afternoon. Carl & boys & I down town in evening. Prayer meeting at Betty & Garn's.

Wed Mar 25, 1959 -- Not quite so windy. I cooked brown sugar cookies. Watkins agent called.

Thu Mar 26, 1959 -- A really nice day. Carl took his lunch to town where he was splitting wood, so not much bother for dinner. I cleaned up back room upstairs and rest of house. I went with Carl when he went to meet Bertha at Collier's in evening.

Fri Mar 27, 1959 -- Good Friday. Moved out wood box, etc. Bertha cooked doughnuts, date squares and a cake. Carl down town splitting wood, home to dinner. Suther & Hazel & Tubby came in afternoon. I went to Mountain with Mr Parker. Supper at Laurel's and practice.

Sat Mar 28, 1959 -- Suther, Hazel, Tubby, Fred, Dolly had trip to Woodstock. Lunch at Kid Baker's restaurant. I got an Easter lily for church service Sunday. Suther brought me on home, here to supper.

Sun Mar 29, 1959 -- Easter Sunday. Annie called me in a.m. to wish us Happy Easter. Down to church &SS in a.m. Sherrill in her Easter outfit and my Easter lily only sign of Easter in our church. Out to supper at Laurel's. Easter concert in evening. I had to play.

Tue Mar 31, 1959 -- I went to Harvey's in afternoon to tell them about the meeting at Mountain church in evening. They knew about it and planned to go, so I went with them. Mark Corts, a wonderful service, he sang some selections and played trumpet too.

Wed Apr 1, 1959 -- A nice day, some cloudy. I washed shirt, pants, pajamas, etc., in a.m. Got dinner and washed all the dishes. Bertha cleaning upstairs, her room and Denny's. I knit some on pair of mittens for Gary. TV in evening, wrote to Annie, etc.

Thu Apr 2, 1959 -- Foggy in early a.m. and cloudy. Ironed some in a.m. After dinner I went with Carl out to Alton Wood's to watch them move cabin from there for Stanley G and call on Edith. Laurene came home with us to stay all night. Finished mittens for Gary.

Fri Apr 3, 1959 -- A heavy rain. Not much doing. Two more lambs arrived. Laurene & I made 18 block crazy patch work in afternoon. TV in evening. Todd took her home later.

Sat Apr 4, 1959 -- Busy morning. After dinner dishes were washed, I went up to stay with Gary and Brian while Norman & Irva went to Dow Settlement to attend funeral of Mrs Johnson and on to Woodstock and Houlton.. They got home around 9. More rain p.m.

Sun Apr 5, 1959 -- Cloudy, showery in a.m. Down to SS at 11:30. Carl took Bertha and Dolores back to Fredericton late afternoon. Boys & I went too. Stayed all night at Clare's. Nice visit.

Mon Apr 6, 1959 -- Nice in a.m., up very early. Clare & I walked down town. I bought a new dress, etc. Carl & Bertha shopping. We left F'ton around noon, hot dogs at Moonlight Inn. In Canterbury quite awhile, got wall paper for kitchen. Home at 4.

Tue Apr 7, 1959 -- Ironed most of the day. No one to go to prayer meeting in evening so cancelled it. Carl working down town so did not have much bother for dinner, but a very busy day.

Wed Apr 8, 1959 -- Snowed a bit in early a.m. but turned out to be a good day. I washed a few things in a.m. and finished up ironing. Wiped up kitchen and dining room. Sam & Carl down town working. I cooked hot gingerbread for supper. Very good.

Thu Apr 9, 1959 -- Cloudy in a.m. but cleared later. Carl took Billy , Charles, Lloyd with him to Border office for exams for customs officer in afternoon. I walked up to Harvey's for awhile in evening. Called at Stanley's house. Fri Apr 10, 1959 -- Lovely day. Quite a busy one. Got the closet in my bedroom cleaned. Carl working down at the house. He went to North Lake to meet Bertha in evening.

Sat Apr 11, 1959 -- Busy day as usual.

Sun Apr 12, 1959 -- Clear, quite cool. Down to SS at 11:30. I went home with Mamie for dinner, back to church at 3:30. Home with Norman and stayed to supper and watched TV till 9.

Mon Apr 13, 1959 -- Started cleaning in my bedroom, what a big job. Got about half done. Busy day, etc. Carl went back to town after supper, so I went down to visit Guy & Flossie awhile. Carl down at the house all day.

Tue Apr 14, 1959 -- Carl working down town. I started cleaning my bedroom. Got ready at night, but no chance down to prayer meeting. Watched TV etc.

Wed Apr 15, 1959 -- Started cleaning in pantry. Arlie & Hazel came in a.m. to fix up insurance so not much done in a.m. Busy day. Over to Annie Graham's in evening to WMS meeting. Nice meeting and good lunch, ice cream, etc.

Thu Apr 16, 1959 -- Finished cleaning in pantry. Kitchen a mess in afternoon when Mr Parker came to call. But got nicely cleaned up. Later Bert & Phyllis and Lizzie came for the evening. Carl & boys went back to town to work some more in evening.

Fri Apr 17, 1959 -- Churned in a.m. Swept and cleared up, etc. Got ready to go to NBBI and was 5 before we started. Mr Parker, Lydia and I. Had a nice trip, good meeting and film, In Good Times like These. Home at 12 o'clock. Bertha came home at night.

Sat Apr 18, 1950 Clear and sunny. Carl washed, Bertha cooked. I washed separator, dishes, mixed bread, cooked beans, etc. In a.m. Carl, Bertha & boys went down to work at Clark house, I cooked bread or angel cake, scrubbed kitchen, dinning room in p.m.

Sun Apr 19, 1959 -- Lovely day. Carl got a call early to go and take Betty and Garn and Lydia to Woodstock. Denny & I went down to church and SS with Norman in a.m. I helped Bertha cutting pictures for school work in afternoon. Took a walk up to Norman's in evening. Lovely.

Mon Apr 20, 1959 -- After the morning work was done, I went up to Lloyd's to tell them about Betty's new baby boy, born early that morning. Lovely day. Sewing some in afternoon.

Tue Apr 21, 1959 -- Another lovely day. Lizzie & I down to prayer meeting in evening. Only Lala, Lydia and me there. Some more of Genesis.

Wed Apr 22, 1959 -- After the morning work, I began cleaning cupboard and dishes in dining room. Sewing: making cretonue curtains for door to closet in Bertha's and Carl's room.

Thu Apr 23, 1959 -- Finished cleaning dining room, scrubbed and waxed floor, etc. After supper, Norman and boys were going up to Eric's for some feed so I went along for a ride in the new car., Vauxall, very nice. I called at Laurel's.

Fri Apr 24, 1959 -- Washed out a number of things in a.m. A lovely warm day. I went up to call at Harvey's in p.m., Lizzie not home, so visited Phyllis awhile then called on Flora Leeman. Carl went to North Lake to meet Bertha so went out to call at Nina Wood's and hear about St. John.

Sat Apr 25, 1959 -- Nice sunny day, but cooler. Bertha & Carl washed and she cooked in a.m. Got ironing all done after dinner, they went to town in late p.m.. I cooked the rolls and beans for supper. Denny & Charlie got them to make ice cream at 9 p.m. I was up in night.

Sun Apr 26, 1959 -- Cloudy and nice warm rain in afternoon. Carl took boys and me down to SS 11:30. Quiet afternoon. Carl and boys went to take Bertha out to Wood's to go back to F'ton with Lester & Edith. Church service in evening.

Mon Apr 27, 1959 -- Carl & Blaine went to Canterbury to get some work on car. I went out to Luella's and visited till them came back at noon. Made some dish towels in afternoon, etc., etc. I made 6 blocks crazy patchwork.

Tue Apr 28, 1959 -- Lizzie Gould came down in afternoon to visit me so I did not go down to prayer meeting in evening. Lyndon & Lois called later in evening to have me sign for hospital insurance.

Wed Apr 29, 1959 -- Mary & Tom Kinney came with Perley in early a.m. to go to St. Croix when Carl went to the office at McAdam. Had a good day, on down to Baillie for supper. I went over to Annie's the rest stayed at Helen's. Home around 7. House seemed cold as winter.

Thu Apr 30, 1959 -- Cloudy and rained some of the time. I cleaned up in spare room, scrubbed, waxed, etc.
