David W Lounder, 81, Was Retired Railroad Man. Born at New Maryland.

Vanceboro, Sept 25, [1943] David W. Lounder, 81, died suddenly Friday forenoon at the Trask farm in West Vanceboro where he had gone on business.
Mr Lounder was a native of New Maryland, N.B., son of Thomas Lounder and had lived in Vanceboro most of his life. He was a locomotive engineer and locomotive foreman [sic] for the Maine Central R.R. Co. until his retirement 13 years ago. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs Myrtle Trask of Lambert Lake; two sons, Harry D. and Hartley T. Lounder; grandchildren, Laurel, a student at the U. of M.; Richard in U.S. Navy; Martha and Jean Lounder of Vanceboro. Mr Lounder, though in failing health had occupied his home alone since the death of his wife in April, 1942. He had a wide acquaintance among railroad men and was highly esteemed by his many friends.
Funeral services will be at the Methodist Church, Sunday at 2 p.m. conducted by Rv. Edith F. Porter and burial in Vanceboro.

The death of Frank H. Lounder of Fredericton and formerly of McAdam occurred at the Veteran's Health Unit on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at the age of 87. Born in St. Croix, NB he was a son of the late Walter and Cora (Allen) Lounder and loving husband of 60 years of the late Margaret Clara Lounder who passed away in 2006. Frank served with the Royal Canadian Armed Forces in the North Shore Regiment. He served overseas for five years. After the army, Frank spent a great deal of time as a fishing and hunting guide on the St. Croix. He was employed with CP Rail until his retirement. Frank was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He enjoyed playing crib with his late wife and enjoyed spending many happy times with family and friends at their camp at Spednik Lake. He is survived by his son Walter (Sharon) Lounder of Kentucky (formerly of McAdam) Sharon's daughters Cindy and Joy; daughter Janet Landry (Richard) of Moncton; four precious grandchildren Tracy (Ross) Piercy of McAdam, Tara Christensen (Leif) of California, Matthew of Calgary and Chris Landry of Moncton; two great-grandchildren Courtney and Meghan Piercy; two sisters Dorothy of Maine and Betty of Bristol, NB; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by six brothers Lynwood, Stephen, Raymond, Milton, Henry and twin brother Harold "Bud"; three sisters Lorena, Ada and Berla. Resting at Bishops Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Rd. with visiting on Saturday, May 1, 2010 from 2 to 4 pm only. Because of Frank's love of the outdoors, his family have chosen a graveside funeral service to be held from Rockland Cemetery in McAdam, NB on Sunday, May 2, 2010 at 2:30 pm where interment will take place. During Frank's journey, he and his family were blessed to have been taken under the wings of so many angels. Always to remain in our hearts are the volunteers and staff of the Alzheimer's Society, VON Adult Day Care and the Fredericton Veteran's Health Unit. His last 8 years of this journey consisted of shared joy, laughter, tears, hugs and unconditional love from his V.H.U. family. Each of you are so giving in your own unique way. Special thanks to Susan, Naomi and Mike for loving our Grampie like their own. For those who wish, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society or the Veteran's Health Unit Bus Fund. The Royal Canadian Legion will hold a tribute service at the funeral home on Saturday at 2:00 pm. One of Frank's favorite sayings was "No such thing as a bad day paddling."

Wedding Of Interest In St. George Church

Miss Laura M. Nielson and Laurel F. Lounder in Ceremony

Vancouver [sic], Dec 25, [1948] A very pretty wedding took place on Tuesday, Dec 21, in the Presbyterian Church at St. George, N.B., when Laura Mae, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Ortved Nielsen, became the bride of Laurel Foster, only son of Mr and Mrs Harry D. Lounder, Vanceboro, Maine. The double ring ceremony was performed by Rev Dr. S. Davies of St Andrews, N.B. The church was tastefully decorated with evergreens and baskets of mums.
The bride given in marriage by her father, wore a grey wool suit with navy accessories, and carried an arm bouquet of American Beauty roses. The bridesmaid, Miss Marjorie Spoffard, wore a dressmakers suit of grey wool with black accessories, and carried a bouquet of pink and white carnations. Herbert Simms of St. John's Newfoundland, a classmate of the groom was best man. Ushers were Burton and Douglas Coutts, brothers of the bride.
The bride's mother wore a green wool dress, with matching accesssories, and a corsage of American Beauty roses. The groom's mother wore a gown of dove grey crepe with matching accessories and a corsage of red carnations.
The traditional wedding march was played by the organist, Miss Alice Boyd. During the signing of the register, Mrs Lila Cross sang, "Because".
Immediately after the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents, where about one hundred guests attended. The toast to the bride was proposed by Dr. Davies and reponded to by the groom. The bride's table was attractively arranged with pink and white candles and streamers. A three tier wedding cake topped with a miniature bride and groom adorned the centre of the table. Mrs R.D. Smith and Mrs Ceclil Leland poured. Mrs E.M. Tabor, and Mrs S. McKay replenished. Serving were Mrs Burton Coutts, Mrs Wm. Coutts, Mrs Douglas Coutts, Mrs Sherman Allen, and the Misses Margaret Coutts, Barbara Nielsen, Clare Nielsen, Alice Bilmour.
The guest book was in charge of Miss Marjorie Spoffard.
The young couple received many beautiful gifts, of silver, linen and cheques. A cablegram of congratulations was received from the bride's grandmother in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Mrs Lounder is a graduate of St. George High School and Teacher's College, Fredericton, N.B. Mr Lounder, a veteran of World War II, served overseas in the South Pacific and Far East. At the present time he is a senior student at U.N.B.
Mr and Mrs Lounder left for a short honeymoon to Montreal, Que.
