David George Edward Acott, 76, passed away Nov. 24, 2016, at a local hospital. He was born May 30, 1940, in Woodstock, NB, Canada, the son of George and Dorothy (Cosman) Acott.
David was a hard worker and family orientated man. He enjoyed his 28 years of service at Leon Little & Sons and another 10 years at Hogan Tire. David knew every part by number and right where they could be located. He enjoyed coming home on his lunch breaks with his loving partner Noreen, he never missed a day. David and Noreen also enjoyed their Sunday drives together. He truly will be missed.David is survived by his partner of 15 years Noreen Berry of Houlton; three sons Ricky Acott and his wife Tammy of Houlton, Allen Acott and his wife Janet, Larry Acott all of Linneus; two daughters Darlene Acott of Houlton, Charlene Henderson and her husband Brian of Littleton; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; four brothers Bill Acott and his wife Astrik, Norman Acott and his wife Cathy, Roy Acott and his wife Bernice, Charlie Acott and his wife Gayle all of Canada; two sisters Betty Dickison and her husband Grant of St. John, NB, Canada, Margerette Vandervault and her husband John of Ontario, Canada; several nieces and nephews. George H.T. Acott died at Carleton Memorial Hospital July 27 after a period of failing health. He was 88. Born at Pembury, England, he came to Canada in 1913. He was an orchardist and farmer in Speerville until his retirement in 1980.
He was active in school, political and church affairs for many years. He: is survived by his wife, the former Dorothy L. Cosman of Lower Woodstock; five sons, William (Bill) and Norman of Speerville, David of Houlton, Me., Roy of Public Landing and Charles of Oak Mountain; two daughters, Elizabeth (Betty) Dickison of Quispamsis and Marguerite van der Valk of St. Catharines, Ont.; two sisters, Evelyn Berry of Debec and Norah Baker of Dartmouth, N.S.; 21 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. The funeral was held from St. Mary's Church in Benton, of which he was a member.
The service was conducted by Rev. Dale Petley and Thora Porter was organist. Pallbearers were grandsons Ricky, Sheldon and Charlie Jr. Acott, Edwin and Andrew Dickison and Robert van der Valk. Interment was held in the Oak Mountain Cemetery.

It is with much sadness and heavy hearts that the family of William Henry Acott of Speerville, New Brunswick announce his peaceful passing on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at the age of 87. William, who preferred to be called Bill by family and friends, passed peacefully at Riverside Court surrounded by family members. Bill was born on August 2,1937 in Speerville, NB.He was a beloved son to the late George and Dorothy (Cosman) Acott. Brother to Betty (Grant) Dickinson, Marguerite (John) Vanderwalk, Roy ( Bernice) Acott, Charles (Gail) Acott and Norman (Cathy) Acott and uncle to many nieces and nephews.Bill was well known and deeply respected for his remarkable skills in farming, mechanics, rock crushing, trucking and especially apple farming. A dedicated and hardworking man, he left a lasting mark not only through his craft but also through his commitment to his community. In his earlier years, Bill was actively involved in the church vestry, the Elks, Houlton Promenaders Square dancing group and local politics — always lending a hand and a voice where it mattered most. His strong work ethic and unwavering dedication to his family will live on in the many lives he touched. Bill was rarely seen without a tin of pink peppermints in his pocket, always ready to share one with anyone he met along his daily travels — a small but meaningful gesture that perfectly captured his generous spirit.Following the Funeral service, interment will take place at Oak Mountain Cemetery. Rev. Ed Dickinson will be officiating.

DOVER-FOXCROFT - John Elwin Alexa, 77, loving husband of Judith (Boone) Alexa, died Feb. 1, 2007, surrounded by his family at home, after a long battle with cancer. He was born Aug. 20, 1929, in Dover-Foxcroft, the son of John J. and Marion (Miller) Alexa. He was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of the American Legion. Like many of his generation, he was reticent to talk about his service, but proud to have served his country. John was an electrician by trade and loved to hunt and fish. He is survived by his loving wife, Judy of Dover-Foxcroft; two daughters, Hope and her husband, Stephen Page, of Dover-Foxcroft, and Marilou and her husband, Casey Conner, of Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands; a sister, Anna McKinney of Massachusetts; a special cousin, Ivan Smith of Dover-Foxcroft; 13 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several cousins, nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to share in a time of fellowship and remembrances 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, at the Gerrish-Warren Community Center, Thayer Parkway, Dover-Foxcroft, where an eulogy will be said 6:30 p.m. Graveside committal services in the family lot at Rural Grove Cemetery will be announced in the spring. ANDERSON, Gerald Benjamin Douglas "Gerry" - 75, Lexington, died September 24, 2006, in the VG Site, QEII. Born in Fredericton, N.B., he was a son of the late Harry Wilfred and Nellie May (Sickles) Anderson. Gerry was the owner of Anderson's Landscaping. Jerry was a strong advocate for the community and in the Chamber movement. He was a board member for many years in the 1980s and 1990s including representing our community with both the Nova Scotia Chamber of Commerce and the Atlantic Provinces Chamber. Even in his 70s he was still promoting business through the Truckers Association.
He is survived by his wife, Bessie (Briggs) Anderson, and daughter, Nancy; brother, Howard; grandson, Gerald, and great-grandchildren, Amanda Susan and Michael Anderson. He was predeceased by daughter, Susan, and sister, Lily.

Jeff grew up in Woodbridge, Ct. He graduated from Notre Dame High School, '74. He received two undergraduate degrees from SCSU, then his CPA license.Jeff's career spanned from the IRS, Price Waterhouse and Morris Klein, his mentor, to opening his accounting practice: ABAPC. Many of his clients become good friends.Jeff was an avid gun collector, especially antique rifles. He enjoyed duck hunting with his favorite Pointing Lab, Sky. He was a lifelong history buff with a focus on WWII.Jeff was a member of several local Chambers of Commerce where he valued the comradeship and networking with his business associates.Jeff was a Mason and a Shriner.He leaves his beloved daughter Emma Luschenat and her husband Michael. His former wife Nancy David Arendholz. His brother Matthew Arendholz and sister Holly Quintiliano.

She strove to answer their questions by making them consider the question from all sides and draw their own conclusions, to think outside the box. She has had many students contact her, years after they had graduated, to thank her for instilling the self-confidence they required as they made their way through higher education and then the responsibility of adulthood.Once retired, Donna enjoyed her home at the Eel River Lake, where she was always puttering around her numerous flower beds, walking though the woods and always marveling how perfect nature was no matter which season.With respects to Donna’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Followed by cremation, a private family celebration of her life will be held at The Scott Funeral Home Chapel at a later date.

Gladys Helena Foster age 87 passed away peacefully at her home in North Lake on April 12, 2021 with her loving husband Marvin at her side.Gladys was the beloved wife and best friend to Marvin. Married on August 6, 1952, Mom and dad’s love story began when they met ice skating on North Lake and continued after they moved to its shores over 50 years ago. Their story spanned 68 years and is one of absolute love and care for each other especially in recent years. She was the last of the “Armour girls”.Mom and dad loved spending time together and had many fun times together at family gatherings at their home, snowmobiling, flea markets in Sussex, square dancing and playing ROOK with lakeshore friends. Their favourite activity over the past years has been to sit and chat on their screen porch watching their beloved view of North Lake. They never parted on a day unless they kissed each other goodbye or goodnight.When Mom was in her 40s she trained and worked as a Red Cross homemaker and was rightfully proud of her impact in caring for others in the area. She was a talented seamstress and blessed each of us with beautiful handmade quilts and cozy knitted socks. She was also an amazing cook; to the point that dad often said he had no reason to ever go to a restaurant. While she shared her hand-written recipes with us, none of us have been able to duplicate her delicious biscuits or her sage dressing for our wonderful holiday dinners.Mom had a strong faith that God was in control of her life and her eternity so we take comfort in knowing she is with her Heavenly Father and at peace.Resting at the Scott Funeral Home, 815 Main Street, Woodstock, NB. Boston (AP) A 13-year dim-out may have ended for Miss Gertrude Atkinson of St. Stephen, thanks to the skill of surgeons and a person she never will know.
Miss Atkinson, 28, underwent a corneal transplant Wednesday at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. The diseased cornea of her right eye was removed and replaced by a healthy cornea from a dead person.
It will be two weeks before she knows whether the transplant has been successful.
The young woman vowed that if she is able to see, "I will arrange to donate this one good eye to the eye bank upon my death so that some other person will be given a chance for sight."�Her sight started failing when she was 15. She worked in mills and restaurants to save money so she could consult specialists in St. Stephen, Fredericton and Boston.
Here she learned of the eye bank and doctors arranged for a transplant as soon as the proper cornea became available.
